K.I.S.S.

August 26th, 2010 |Posted by Betty

While there’s much hype about the September issues for behemoths like American Vogue, there’s also a wave of indie magazines rolling off the presses proving that print is most certainly not dead. Check out Luke Worrall on Supplementaire,Vanessa Traina/Hanne Gaby Odiele for Intermission and Yuri Pleskun for The Vision. The striking simplicity of these are a refreshing contrast to the covers most prevalent now on the stands. We love ‘em all!

Luke and Raquel (Success) by Chad Pitman

d1 Models London dominates the new GQ Style with 5 young men including brand new face Harrison Cooter. The Cambridge University student’s debut job? The beautiful cover by Chad Pitman. Inside, perennial personalities Cole Mohr, Jethro Cave and Luke Worrall cavort on the beach in Chad’s dreamy editorial also by uberstylist David Bradshaw. Fascinating to see the famous McQueen lobster shoes in a natural environment. Certainly gets you ready for spring doesn’t it?

We love Adwoa featured on the Ones2Watch, and so apparently does Meisel.

Coco Rocha and Georgia May Jagger are Rimmel’s new spokeswomen!

Guess what? Not only models are photoshopped!

Missing summer already? Check out 9 Daughters and a Stereo‘s dreamy video of some of their top boys, which include 10 cover model Patrick Meckelburg and former Gucci face Olaf Szosnowski. Janis Joplin’s inimitable voice lends some great atmosphere.

Fascinating interview with Jimmy Paul, top hairdresser. He talks about drag, Nan Goldin and working with Steven Klein.

Is the world ready for the first aboriginal model? Frockwriter checks her out.

If you don’t know who Ray Petri is, educate yourself now.

Need inspiration for Halloween? Starworks gives you some top fashionista looks to emulate.

Angelina Jolie and Leonardo DiCaprio to star in a Gucci movie, complete with hitmen and all? Sounds divine.

Grace Coddington is worried about how skinny models are nowadays.

Here is Stephanie Seymour at her peak!

The Blondes

May 28th, 2009 |Posted by Betty

There are blondes and then there’s Agyness Deyn and Luke Worrall. Two of the most recognizable faces of the Brit pack brighten up the new Uniqlo Sport campaign shot by photographer to watch, Daniel Jackson and styled by the ultra hip Nicola Formichetti. It’s easy to see why the 2 Brits are so popular; besides their effervescent energy shining through, they are just so darn gorgeous.

Bits and Bytes: D1’s Michael

April 29th, 2009 |Posted by Betty

Michael Simmonds. d1 Model Management.

Cool London boutique agency, d1 Models, home to Luke Worrall, continues to spin out the awesome English boys. Witness Michael Simmonds, from Northwest London. Rock on we say!

Christy Turlington doesn’t get out much but when she does, WOW, is all we can say.

Vogue’s model roundtable with Sally Singer. Wish we could have been there..

Ellis, the Model Agent (from Independent Models) and Erin O’Connor, supermodel search for the next Irish supermodel on TV. Here are the girls.

The Cut has a hilarious list of why Madonna may be doing LV with Jesus Luz.

Time’s 100 list this year? Very lacking in fashion industry names. Only Stella McCartney makes it this year.

Fascinating behind the scenes interview on Avedon with his book designer and one time daughter in law, Elizabeth Avedon.

American Vogue‘s style director, Alexandra Kotur, is interviewed by the New York Observer. Anna Wintour says, “I trust her with all sorts of important sittings.” That’s high praise indeed, coming from Ms Wintour herself…

Matthew Williamson for H&M’s event had Helena and Selita looking gorgeous. Chanel Iman and Dree Hemingway…. not as much (so says Jezebel). Go here for some Jeremy Kost shots from the party.

T Magazine downsized, Mixte Magazine folds…. so sad.

Look Again

April 22nd, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Lean, tattooed, youthful and edgy – these are the hallmarks of the current male model look, a look personified by boys like Ash Stymest, Luke Worrall Josh Beech, George Barnett and Cole Mohr. Arena Homme + pays tribute to male modeling’s resident rebels via a series of serene blue shots by Alasdair McLellan. Considering the nearly indistinguishable portraits one has to wonder – with so many boys sporting the tats and attitude has the look reached critical mass?
