Land of the Rising Sun

March 31st, 2015 |Posted by steven.yatsko

The third issue of the relaunched and wanderlust-provoking Holiday Magazine honors the Land of the Rising Sun. The “Japan Issue” nuances a journey through culture and characters profiling a carefully selected troupe of seminal Japanese characters. On the cover, captured by Josh Olins, is famous Kabuki actor Ebizo Ichikawa XI. Olins also contributes a photo essay starring Edie Campbell touring Japan. Tidy, reflective interviews are aplenty with the likes of Jean Paul Goude, Yohji Yamamoto, Serge Lutens and Kenzo Takada. Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin photographs Natalie Westling and Karlie Kloss decorated in face paint for a vibrant beauty story. Setsuko Klossowska Rola photographed by Jamie Hawkesworth and writer Eric Réinhardt providing a seventy-seven Japan-pondering passages both make for novel features. The well-ordered travel and style review contemplates time and place as a thorough memoir would. That thoughtfulness is the heart of Holiday, available at Colette April 3rd.

The dramatic fashions are styled by Patti Wilson (Streeters New York) who uses her expert touch to take Kawakubo’s dresses even further into artistic territory. Time spent with your best friend is always time well spent, so Karlie Kloss and Taylor Swifts March cover of American Vogue strikes a special chord. As an exceptionally dynamic duo the two have made headlines with their extremely close friendship, spreading girl power and positivity with every red carpet appearance and adorable Instragram photo. Mikael Jansson shoots the besties in road trip mode, cruising through Big Sur in a convertible and sporting Tonne Goodman styled bohemian wares from Saint Laurent and Valentino. Jansson’s photos are so good you can almost hear the sound of Swift’s hit ‘Shake it Off’ blaring on the radio as you look at them.

High Kloss

October 6th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

In case you had any doubts about the Karlie Kloss domination of the world take a look at what America’s sweetheart has been up to of late. In addition to being named as the new face of L’Oreal, Karlie has found the time to snap up a fresh cover of Vogue Italia alongside fellow stars Sasha Pivovarova and Lexi Boling. As though that weren’t enough Karlie also graces the October issues of Vogue Netherlands and Vogue Russia and the front page of a little magazine called Lucky – which is usually reserved for the Hollywood celebrity set. Editorially Karlie is no slouch either and her continued presence in Vogue Paris is a testament to that fact – all in all if you’re in need of a Karlie fix you’re sure to get it this month.
