A Love Thing

May 17th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

Behati Prinsloo and Jamie Strachan are one of modeling’s coolest couples and the pair brings their real life chemistry to the pages of i-D for a special story shot by Kayt Jones. Cast as strangers meeting who share a night of passion, Jamie and Behati sizzle in their shots together. The story is taken a step further by Pippa Vosper‘s modern styling, using only clothes from online boutique The-Corner, where their editorial is accompanied by a special video.

Just in time as the sizzling spring/summer season arrives in NY is Hercules’ spread of 8 fabulous Brazilian beauties wearing well, not much of anything. Shot by Paola Kudacki and cast by Natalie Joos, see the sneak peek  here.

Elsa Sylvan by Ellen von Unwerth for Target/Zac Posen.
It’s a Zac Posen moment with not only the launch of his Target collaboration, but his first venture into real estate.

Model News:

Some might have called the 00’s the decade of the Brazilian model invasion but the non Brazilians seem to be popular right now for their campaigns.

We agree with Fashionista about setting some rules in New York (like Paris has) for models under the age of 18.

MDC’s top 10 newcomer Carla Gebhart gets her Ponyryder interview.

For anyone born before 1980, Niki Taylor will always be one of the original supermodels. Here, Production shows she is just as beautiful as ever.

We know male models are always keeping themselves busy since it’s just not as hectic for them as it is for the girls. Here’s 4 that are not only super successful (Vincent LaCrocq, Boyd Holbrook, Jacques Naude and Jamie Strachan), they are creating their own little artists community/gallery called BAG.

We adore this story in the NY Times about Karen Elson and her new album.

TFS does it again, picking out fascinating faces amongst all the thousands of new ones. We love Dan Kling who has an elfin yet ethereal face perfect for Jil Sander, Raf Simons and Prada.

Miscellaneous:

Long before the Sartorialist, there was Bill Cunningham. I remember seeing him first in the early 90’s outside at shows and thinking who IS this guy? At 81 years old, Bill’s the ORIGINAL street style photographer and is still working his NY Times beat to this day. There’s a documentary recently out on him (where they spent 8 years chasing him to get his cooperation… “Why me? There’s no subject here”). Some of these recent street style photographers could take some lessons in humbleness and hard work from this true old school gentlemen. (Check out his video work where his enthusiasm is so infectious).

Prada takes over the world! Well at least our alphabet. Here’s the Pradalphabet created by M&M.

One of our favorite designers, Rad Hourani, writes a NY Times piece on black, his favorite color.

If you haven’t read Cathy Horyn‘s detailed story on Alexander McQueen‘s final hours, read it here now.

One of our favorite agents with a oh so wicked sense of English humor (and amazing stories to go with it), Richard Habberley gets his moment in the spotlight with an interview by Love magazine.

Jacques, Vincent, Conrad and Boyd by Thomas Lohr for Contributing Editor.

Take a look at 5 of the top male models, Boyd Holbrook, Conrad Matschke, Jacques Naude, Jamie Strachan and Vincent LaCrocq hanging out at their Brooklyn apartment looking damn cool and gorgeous. Oh to be a fly on THAT wall.

The Women/Supreme girls are gorgeous for the V Covers by Paul Rowland but are they influenced by one of the scariest trends to come out of Norway?

Anna Wintour charms David Letterman. Click here to watch pretty much the whole thing, with Frockwriter putting in the bits that are missing. (Oh this is a funny post about Anna Wintour on Letterman about her so-called “body language” on the show.)

How cute is Cintia Dicker as a baby?

One supermodel shoots another. Helena Christensen photographs Larry Scott for Faconnable.

Why is Sienna Miller, Kate Bosworth, etc always on Vogue’s best dressed list? Hadley Freeman has a hilarious answer

See some of Kate Mosspieces for Topshop.

Raquel Zimmermann talks and we can listen for hours..

We are having a Carine Roitfeld moment in fashion.

Is former Calvin Klein model Joel West back? Find out what he’s been up to.

Made in Brazil posted shots from this gorgeous beachwear line in Brazil, Luiza Bonadiman. Top Brazilians like Ana Claudia Michels, Aline Weber and Bruna Tenorio add class to these stunning suits.

Longtime fashion stylist, Nicoletta Santoro gets interviewed by One Management.

More adorable pics of Behati Prinsloo‘s cat. (With the beau, Jamie Strachan looking none too pleased).

See behind the scenes video at the 2009 CFDA Swarovski menswear/accessories awards nominees photoshoot. There’s something adorable about these top designers posing together like a bunch of fraternity brothers.

80’s icon Ines de la Fressange brings back the Roger Vivier brand and dishes about Karl Lagerfeld and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy.

VMan/Ford Model contest has less than 1 week left. Click here to enter or to see entries.

It’s official. Fabien Baron‘s back in and Glenn O’Brien is out at Interview.

In case you read Portugese.. here’s an interview with Isabeli Fontana! It looks like she loves Aerosmith and would like to walk for YSL.. Are we right, her Brazilian fans?

JD Ferguson has a party.. and the fashion crew turns it out (including Riccardo Tisci and so many top models)!! So sad we missed it!

Bits and Bytes: Tacie

February 3rd, 2009 |Posted by Betty

Denmark’s Scoop Models, who represents the likes of Mathias Lauridsen, Naomi and Natasha Poly has an updated website with loads of pictures and polaroids/videos of their newest faces.. Click here to visit.

The back story: why Fabien and Karl left Interview. And off the record.

In this economy, even models are going for half price these days…  (original story on reuters) and the model’s viewpoint of it all.

Women Models loves photographer Yu Tsai. He can go from sexy (Guess Jeans) to super clean and editorial. Check out his special project for Women here.

We love Lauren Hutton for J Crew, still so damn gorgeous. (Also see some of our other favorites like Kasia Struss, Jamie Strachan, Heloise Guerin)

So just who is that guy in Roberto Cavalli‘s campaign? Apparently he’s a fighter.

The NY Times, working with Ellen Von Unwerth visits Paris couture backstage. (And yes, couture is still pretty much lily white except for Jourdan and Chanel).

New York Fashion Week moves after 15 years. Bryant Park -> Lincoln Center. Nice upgrade.

Who is Tacie? Though there are always tons of new beauties appearing everyday, this Russian newcomer from Avant caught our eye immediately with her feline beauty.

Danny Boy

January 23rd, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

The boys of Milan are already starting to have an impact. Danny Schwarz is making a big splash this season with appearances in multiple campaigns. First up Danny looks stellar in Steven Meisel‘s sundrenched Missoni campaign alongside superstars Isabeli Fontana and Natasha Poly. For Pepe Jeans’ rock n’ roll themed ads with Anna Jagodzinska, Jamie Strachan and Boyd Holbrook Danny looks every bit the star. With back to back campaigns and a stellar Milan season just wrapped up Danny is surely a face to watch.

For One, For All

January 5th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

The year was 1994 and the concept was simple – a perfume for everyone. A simple singular scent that could transcend age and gender and stand out as not just a perfume but as a pop culture moment in and of itself. For anyone who survived the mid 90s, the phrase CK One instantly conjures memories. The stripped down, black and white Meisel campaign is legendary in and of itself. Its eclectic model selection and insouciant vibe represented everything that was cool about the Gen X era.

Fast forward to the present day and the new faces of CK One are every bit as effortlessly appealing. Three generations of models join forces and everyone gets in on the action, Christina Kruse, Jamie Strachan, Coco Rocha, Jamie Burke, Cameron Russell, Sessilee Lopez, Travone Hill and Guinevere Van Seenus are all featured within the all star cast. With the buzzworthy tagline “we are one” tying it all together, we feel the beginnings of another landmark moment.
