A lot of fashion magazine’s cross our paths these days, but Hungarian fashion glossy, The Room remains one of our favorites. Their latest issue, featuring Valerija Kelava, on the cover, is filled with exactly the kind of content we’ve been craving. From interviews with up and coming fashion talents like Juun. J, to strong editorials featuring eclectic casts (Simon Nessman, Benoni Loos and Lea T all in the same story), impressive styling and photographers whose work were fast becoming fans of. Take a look at our exclusive preview of the issue for a taste of what The Room has to offer.

After looking at thousands of pictures of young men for the past several weeks, we thought we’d throw out some of the faces that stood out to us from the men’s shows.

Clement Chabernaud, star of this season’s Roberto Cavalli campaign by Steven Meisel was our pick for the top most versatile model of the season with 20 plus of the top shows, including Roberto Cavalli, Jil Sander, Versace, DSquared2, Hugo by Hugo Boss, Louis Vuitton, Thierry Mugler, Raf Simons and closing Prada, Giuliano Fujiwara and Missoni. See our interview with the beautiful Frenchman!

Top 50 stars: AJ Abualrub, Jakob Wiechmann, Simon Nessman and Jeremy Young followed closely behind with 15 plus of the top shows.

Last season’s set of MDC top newcomers: Benoni Loos, Charlie France, Danny Schwarz, Francisco Lachowski, Johannes Linder, Jonas Kesseler, Lyle Lodwick, Mark Cox, Nick Rea, Nate Gill, Nicolas Ripolll, Robbie Wadge, Thomas Hoefnagels, Vladimir Ivanov andJakob Hybholt all had tremendous sophomore seasons. Mr. Hybholt and Mr Linder had monster weeks racking 17 plus shows each.

Former MOTW’s to keep your eye on from the shows: Callum, Albert, Douglas Nietzke, Philipp Bierbaum, Isaac Carew

Some familiar faces who are not only looking better than ever, some had their best week ever: Bastiaan Ninaber, Gen Huismans, Gordie Walker, George Barnett, Guy Robinson.

Some new spectacular faces: Silviu Tolu and Tim Boot. (Edited to add Peter Bruder from Future Milan, see below for picture).

To Boldly Go…

May 26th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Givenchy steps into fresh territory for F/W 09, enlisting Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott to create a quintessentially French scene of beauties lounging in the Château de Ferrières. As always Mariacarla Boscono is front and center but she is joined by Iris Strubegger and much buzzed about newcomer Ranya Mordanova, whose signature crop and natural austerity make her a perfect fit for the house. On the menswear side, newcomer Manuel Ramos does his first tour of duty for the brand, Simon Nessman completes his 3rd season for the brand while Jakob Wiechmann does his second; the boys certainly look edgy in Tisci’s naval inspired vision for men.

Perhaps the most eye-catching surprise is Adriana Lima‘s goth makeover, building on her surprise runway revival at the F/W show the Brazilian bombshell is given the Mert & Marcus treatment and looks more high fashion than she has in years.

Bits and Bytes: 2 for 10!

——————-

The new 10 Men is out and Serge LeBlon‘s whimsical editorial features 2 rising stars to watch, Tom Nicon and MDC top newcomer Jakob Hybholt. Both had spectacular F/W 09 seasons and we expect to see quite a bit of them in the upcoming months.

Walter Pfeiffer, who’s had a recent phenomenal resurgence is now with Art and Commerce.

Avedon‘s show at the ICP; here are images.

For those model fans of a certain age, Nadege will always be an unforgettable face. Now with Muse Management in NYC.

Gisele Bundchen is not only beautiful, she’s smart. Damn her…

Eric Bivoino practices parkour, the French extreme sport of jumping on and around obstacles that include buildings. We totally see an editorial coming out of this video of Eric and his friends.

Anna Wintour in a rare public interview. Read how she supports Alexander Wang and Proenza Schouler, how there are people that disagree with her (gasp on our part), how her first cover is still her favorite cover and so much more.

Swimwear, lingerie and shoes. Is there anything Phillip Lim can’t do?

Amanda Moore, model and singer songwriter. People say she sounds like Aimee Mann and Carol King. Read the rest of the interview on Ponyryder.

At the Infinity Awards, take a peek at how Iman and Carmen are still so darned gorgeous, Annie Leibovitz dressed up and Timothy Greenfield-Saunders‘ hair.

i-D magazine goes to 6 issues a year. We’re so sad.

For those who don’t know, MDC has a new #1 top 50 male model. Not to fret Mathias Lauridsen fans, the Danish star will be appearing on one of our other top lists coming out soon.

Riccardo’s Girls

January 13th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Riccardo Tisci‘s uncompromising vision for Givenchy continues with the launch of the S/S campaign. Building on the look of the memorable fall series Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin tap quintessential Givenchy girls Lakshmi Menon, Mariacarla Boscono, Ana Claudia Michels and Lara Stone for a series of high contrast, high energy shots. The end result, a campaign that is pure Givenchy.

Though the collective star power of the female lineup is mesmerizing Tisci’s boys won’t be left behind. The unique menswear ads feature Simon Nessman, in his second season for the line and newcomers Pablo C and Jakob Wiechmann looking distinctive.
