Miranda Goes Editorial

VS Angel Miranda Kerr certainly has model watchers doing a re-think after her note perfect turn on the Balenciaga SS10 catwalk. Here’s a quick byte from Miss Kerr on the experience.

How did you come on the radar for the Balenciaga SS10 Miranda?
It was a total unexpected surprise when I  was requested to meet with Nicolas and Marie Amelie for the runway casting. I wasn’t planning on doing any shows and had confirmed booking with Victoria’s Secret everyday. They were so kind to move things around so as I could make it to Paris for the fitting and the show.

Are there more shows like this in your near future? Should we expect some blue chip editorial Miranda moments?
I have recently shot V magazine with Willy Vanderperre, among other editorial fashion stories. As for shows, Balenciaga is the only show I will do during SS2010 collections.

How did you find the backstage atmosphere at Balenciaga as compared the world of VS?

Ah…they are entirely different! The one similarity is the fashion mayhem and high energy!! I am blessed to be invited to be a part of both worlds.

What are planning to see/do/buy while in Paris?

I love absorbing all things unique to Paris. It truly is one of my favorite cities in the world. Unfortunately, I was only there for 2 days but I did get to go to a few of my favorite cafes and bars. Among them, Cafe Ruc and Bar Hemingway.  Of course, I managed to  squeeze in a little shopping at Isabel Marant, Dior and Balenciaga, of course!

What’s the one piece you must have from the show?
I absolutely love the jacket from my look in the show. There is nothing like it. It is a definite must have for my closet!

One of our favorite casting directors, Daniel Peddle is a super talented artist as well. Check out his exhibition that’s on for ONE DAY ONLY! Reception is tonight 6-8PM!

If you’re in London, go see a retrospective of Simon Foxton’s work.. He worked on what may be one of our favorite Arena Homme + covers EVER!

While France is contemplating banning the burqua, the fashion world is crazy about all things Arabic.

One of our favorite male model of the 80’s still looks amazing!

Did you know that the NYTimes’ Horacio Silva, former V Magazine director Julianne Quay and Calvin Klein’s Malcolm Carfrae were Australian? We did not know either! Click their names for Frockwriter’s exclusive interviews with the heavy hitters.

If you can’t get V Magazine, check out a fun 1 minute way to look at the current issue!

Now this a fabulous way to introduce a girlIMG has a 45 second video of Sports Illustrated beauty Irina Shayk undressing in an elevator (styled by Sally Lyndley).

The Exclusives (updated)

February 19th, 2009 |Posted by Betty @ MODELS.com

The industry always excitedly waits for the Calvin show as it never fails to debut some of the season’s most coveted faces.

The consistently powerful casting by Maida and Rami ushered in the arrival of 16 year old Louise from Belgium, winner of the Elite Model Look Europe 2008. Addison Gill, the Canadian winner of the V/Supreme model contest emerged in the stellar lineup and everyone finally undestood why she was curiously MIA this past week. Perhaps the most exciting exclusive was the 17 year old American, Lyndsey from Click Models, scoring the first Calvin show exclusive for a young woman of color. Lyndsey was found by Click on MDC’s scouting feature! 17 year old Canadian Bojana from IMG was a dark haired beauty, a welcome change from the blondes galore.

Some other tidbits from the Camilla Nickerson styled show.. Jac (MDC’s top F/W 09 newcomer) opened and closed Calvin; we can say Jac is officially cleaning up this fashion week. Other new faces appearing for their first time in Calvin were Hannah (another MDC top newcomer) and the new faces at Women Direct, Alla and Dorothea.

If you’re in Miami, head down to Naomi Campbell’s 20 year retrospective at Art Basel Miami Beach. As Vogue Italia put it so succintly, “There’s Only One Naomi“. (Show runs through Sunday December 7th).

While you’re there, check out Paul Rowland’s haunting exhibit, Transformations.

Power Couple

October 23rd, 2008 |Posted by Janelle

Mikael Jansson takes things to the next level for Interview magazine. The iconic photog enlists platinum blonde stunners Lara Stone and Dennis Johnson to convey the dynamism of the season’s swimwear. Lara is known for her tough chic allure but it’s Dennis who nearly steals the show with his steely gaze - both Stone and Johnston put their athleticism on display as they battle for dominance.
