First Look : HUSK

December 7th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

Print may have its up and downs, but everywhere you turn there are exciting independent magazines on the scene adding their unique perspectives to the fashion dialogue. One of our faves, Husk Magazine is back with a new issue filled with idiosyncratic content that shows fashion in a different light. From the striking black and white cover of Julier Bugge, to their amusing interview with fashion week fixture Kelly Cutrone, the magazine always goes for the unexpected. Take a look inside the issue here and be sure to check out Husk Magazine.com for even more.

New Semester

May 28th, 2010 |Posted by Betty

Looking at new faces is like taking a snapshot of that first day of school. Most of the time there’s a guilelessness captured in the eyes that will never be seen again. There’s no “I dialed this in” look or “I’m doing it for the money only” expression. That could also be why most of the supers stay super, they love what they do and become that fresh face again every time they step in front of the camera. As we approach the summer months where many faces come in, we’ve chosen a few images and faces that we think have that innocence and appeal.

We adore Mathu Placek‘s polaroids for V Magazine fall blowout party. Check out Sessilee Lopez, Liya Kebede and Cecilia Dean up close and personal.

Speaking of V, their new beauty issue has THE top beauty names in the biz. It’s a must buy…

Death is the new black. There’s something about some of the newest images out there that are definitely disturbing.

New classic Brazilian guy by Didio,Leandro Cagliari, in various states of undress of course.

Josh Beech can do it all. Besides the modeling and singing, he’s taking pictures that comment on the personal, political and cultural influences in his travels. A snippet appears on The Malcolm which showcase that this handsome young man is more than just a pretty face.

The Last Magazine, the ultra cool, ultra large fashion/art magazine, needs interns.

Northern Exposure

April 22nd, 2009 |Posted by Betty

Before the Vogue covers, international campaigns and the “Stam” bag for Marc Jacobs, Jessica Stam was the girl next door in Ontario. Michelle Miller, owner of International Model Management scouted Stam at a coffee shop and Victoria’s Secret beauty Andi Muse at a shopping centre in Canada, changing their lives forever. In 10 days, on May 3rd 2009, the 15th annual Cover Model search by Michele in Barrie, Ontario, Canada takes place. The big NYC agencies (IMG, DNA Models, Women Model Management, Next Models NY, Elite New York, Ford Models, Wilhelmina New York just to name a few) will be there to participate and see Canada’s finest. Go to their site now to participate or see pics from last year’s event.
