World Cup

Made in Brazil Magazine has always been the go-to resource for the best and brightest Brazilian models, and the magazine expands its horizons with its latest edition. Labeled as the “International Issue,” the new magazine offers up a continent-spanning study of some of the most important faces in the industry today, kicked off by the four cover boys: the Argentine Mariano Ontañon, the Brit Arran Sly, the German Thorben Gartner, and the American Chris Moore. Every continent—save, of course, Antarctica—is represented within, from the Australian Joel Meacock and a heavy South American contingent to Matthew Brookes (D + V Management )’ beautiful feature shot in the desert outside Marrakech.

Several of the most promising new faces, from Harvey James and John Todd to Matt Mcglone and Ronald Epps, take their place alongside some of the industry’s biggest names, from Garrett Neff and David Agbodji to Chad White and Tobias Sorensen, all of them captured in characteristically rich and striking photography by Milan Vukmirovic (De Facto), Cristiano Madureira, Greg Vaughan, Dean Isidro, and more. With this eighth issue, Made in Brazil proves it can widen its scope without losing its singular, coherent vision.

First Look: Hercules ❤ New York

September 26th, 2013 |Posted by jonathanshia

The heavyweight Spanish menswear magazine Hercules Universal is no stranger to the long-distance haul, having devoted previous issues to far-flung locales like China and South Africa. The Fall 2013 issue finds itself a bit closer to home, focusing on the vibrant energy of the world’s capital, New York City. Several of the most talented photographers and stylists working today join forces in the eclectic stories, which showcase the beautiful Fall collections against the backdrop of the ever-changing city. Polish photographer Maciek Kobielski‘s stark black-and-white cover story features the Dane Mathias Lauridsen styled by Swede Zara Zachrisson and Darcy Backlar (Paris: Management + Artists, New York: Management + Artists), all of whom, like many in these pages—and countless immigrants before them— now call New York home. David Agbodji takes a star turn with an uptown elegance in Bruno Staub (De Facto)’s gorgeous feature styled by Miguel Arnau. Sean O’Pry brings his timeless cool to the city streets in Txema Yeste‘s contemplative story with styling by Francesco Sourigues.

The rest of the roster is equally strong, with newer faces like Dominik Bauer, Tidiou M’Baye, O’Shea Robertson and Louis Steyaert taking their places alongside seasoned pros like Clement Chabernaud, Marcel Castenmiller, Miles McMillan—and a few veterans like RJ Rogenski and Aiden Shaw—in features lensed by Giampaolo Sgura, Carlotta Manaigo, Ben Weller, Axel Lindahl, and Zachary Hadley. The rich stories offer small peeks into the city’s bustling diversity, proof that even a lifelong New Yorker can always find something new and exciting just around the corner.

All Tomorrow’s Parties

November 22nd, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

Toni Garrn, Rose Smith, David Agbodji, Ian Mellencamp, Arthur Kulkov, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Lykke Li and Sky Ferreira all in one room: must be another night at the Standard. Harper’s Bazaar heads to the hotel’s fabled Boom Boom room for a story that sets out to capture the vibrant energy of Manhattan’s late night scene. With a mix of models, actors, actresses, musicians, a cameo from artist Richard Phillips and even a glimpse of New York’s reigning social fixture Derek Blasberg the story by Alexi Lubomirski gets the feel of rooftop party right.  Brana Wolf‘s selective styling never fails to impress and here she features a range of looks, from classic chic Dior to offbeat Miu Miu. All in all the story is gorgeous – with one small flaw, David’s handsome face barely makes it into any images! The party could have benefited from a few shots of Mr. Agbodji.

Fashion news:

We think Tim Blanks is amazing. Read his reminiscences about McQueen.

So what were the final numbers for McQueen? Jenna Sauers hazards a guess (it’s a lot).

If you haven’t yet seen the lovely Grace Coddington as photographed by her ex husband, Willie Christie, go here now.

Givenchy man: Fashion victim or fashion revolutionary? The Imagist and Tricky Maus have a conversation on Riccardo Tisci and the influence of Givenchy.

Modeling news

“I’ve met too many young models with dreams as big as the sky who think they are just waiting for their moment”. The real voice of an anonymous model; her wistful musings really capture the many times not so glamourous life of a new model.

We really stand behind Coco Rocha for her work helping victims of sex-trafficking.

Love that model Vogue Korea cover model Hye Jung Lee is a big fan of fellow Asians Phillip Lim and Alexander Wang!

Request Models (home to Calvin Klein faces David Agbodji and Yuri Pleskun) gives back; bringing baseball and joy to kids in war torn Afghanistan.

Top model/entrepeneur Nico Malleville has it all; blue chip clients, a thriving business and a lovely family. Natalie Joos interviews the handsome hotelier.

The next big Aussie? Former Daily Duo-er Jake Gordon is part Aboriginal, all gorgeous. See his new shots on Frockwriter.

Ponyryder sits down with the super sweet Vogue Australia cover girl Katie Fogarty, the outgoing Sebastian Sauve and the lovely Jana K.

Sleek & Chic

September 20th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

Numero Homme‘s fall issue is a spirited tribute to iconic male style so what better way to kick things off than to have David Agbodji channeling Grace Jones on the cover? The striking image is among the years most memorable covers and manages to present David in a fresh new way.
