LV Overload!

August 26th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

If there is one collection that is getting editorial love this September it is Nicolas Ghesquière’s debut for Louis Vuitton. While LVMH is generally no slouch in the editorial department, Ghesquire’s work has gone that extra mile – appearing on the cover of or within the pages of almost every single September issue thus far. For fans of the designer’s work the constant sight of logo printed belts and playful dresses has been an appealing constant thread amidst the past few months of editorials and covers, but how much is too much? Take a look at the line’s recent front page appearances and decide. Stylists show no signs of slowing down with their Vuitton obsession so you can expect to see the iconic luxury label rack up even more covers as the month winds down.

Sheer Force

August 25th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

When it comes to elegant, icy blondes Anja Rubik and Daria Strokous have the market cornered, so it’s wonderful to see them together in the pages of W Magazine‘s September issue looking pristine. Roe Ethridge shoots and Giovanna Battaglia styles this sumptuous tribute to sheer separates. With plenty of skin on display and Battaglia providing her signature eclectic glamour, the story has a lot going for it fashion wise. Etheridge’s saturated colors give each image a vibrancy that brings out tiniest of details – be they a bejeweled butterfly brooch on Anja, or Viki Rutsch (Exposure NY)’s vintage-chic set design. For their part Anja and Daria provide the edit with a vampy intensity that makes the lingerie inspired looks seem powerful rather than dainty.

Gucci’s Girls

July 3rd, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

Gucci has always had a clear understanding of its ideal woman and each season it picks a cast that reflects that ethos. This time around Frida Gianinni and co. take things one step further with a campaign featuring seven top models who exemplify the modern Gucci woman. Anja Rubik, Joan Smalls, Raquel Zimmermann, Nadja Bender, Suvi Koponen, Karmen Pedaru and Natasha Poly  feature in stylized shots by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. (Art Partner) In a season filled with high concept campaigns it’s refreshing to see ads where the clothes and the girls are at the forefront. The collection’s pastel tones and ultra-luxe accessories are front and center in the simple studio shots that make every item look like a must have.

Anja Provocateur

March 27th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

If there were an award for boldness in modeling, Anja Rubik would win it time and time again. The fearless model / magazine editor  and occasional music video star has taken her  “do not fear the nipple” mantra to the streets and and it’s made for some gorgeous editorial moments of late. Rubik’s complete ease with herself is enviable and it makes her a compelling cover subject – on the frontpage of Lui Magazine  she captures the sensuality of Emmanuelle in a sumptuous black and white by Mario Sorrenti (Art Partner). On Vogue Russia Anja shows a seductive hint of skin in a Gucci jumpsuit in Patrick Demarchelier cover shot – highlighting the ensemble’s sexy side and looking flawless in the process.

The spotlight is on Anja Rubik on the latest cover of Vogue Russia. The beautiful Ms. Rubik rocks tight curls and fiery red lips looking more fierce than ever before. Shot by Richard Bush, the striking supermodel works the camera from all angles in a fashionable Medusa-inspired cover shoot. Inside the magazine Rubik looks flawless in the editorial that accompanies the stunning cover.

…And our Anja obsession continues.

Double Vision: Clear Winner

March 27th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

Transparency was all over the S/S13 runways and as the season draws closer it seems fitting to explore one of its dominant trends. The house whose designs exemplified the look was VALENTINO, where designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli showed a variety of pieces that utilized transparency expertly, revealing skin but keeping the demure sophistication the brand has become known for. Whether they were dazzling with delicate embroidery, or creating a sublime showcase for the body via cutouts, the duo set the standard for diaphanous dressing.

One piece in particular took the look to its logical endpoint and dazzled with its whimsical cheekiness. The PVC trenchcoat embellished with the line’s signature rockstuds has become an editorial favorite, with stylists providing their own take on the Valentino look. The trench lends itself to a myriad of different interpretations and stylists did not disappoint, creating a variety of looks that range from sensual, to avant-garde. When a garment can go from the all out sexy of Missy Rayder‘s powerful image in Numero, to the easy cool on the back of Angela Lindvall it more than proves its versatility.

Anja In Bloom

March 26th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

Prepare for a double dose of Anja Rubik in the latest issue of Vogue Turkey. Cuneyt Akeroglu shows two very different sides of the blonde beauty in dual stories for Vogue. For the newsstand cover and accompanying editorial, Akeroglu plays up Rubik’s skill for posing with studio portraits that highlight her timeless beauty and a well edited selection of dramatic spring looks – most notably that intricately embroidered Balmain dress on the cover. For Anja’s interview and the subscribers cover the focus is all about nature and sweetness, with Anja laying in a bed of flowers and looking fresh as a daisy; both sets of images provide an elegant showcase for one of the most versatile models in the business.

Cover to Cover

January 14th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

It’s cover vs. cover in this roundup of the month’s fashion hits. Let us know which covers were your favorites and which one’s didn’t quite make the cut.

ANDROGYNOUS APPEAL

Both Saskia de Brauw and Milla Jovovich have an innately stylish vibe that sets them apart from other cover stars, so seeing their faces peering out from the newsstand is always a treat. On February’s Vogue Russia Saskia provides a bit of androgynous edge to Paolo Roversi‘s moody blue imagery in a serious yet sensual cover. Milla J on the other hand is looking resplendent in Saint Laurent Paris on Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin‘s New York themed cover of the new Vogue Paris.

SASKIA ON VOGUE RUSSIA OR MILLA ON VOGUE PARIS – WHICH COVER GETS YOUR VOTE?

2 SIDES OF CONSTANCE

February brings double the Constance Jablonski for you to enjoy, with two very different Vogue covers. Vogue Germany‘s Alexi Lubomirski (New York: Management + Artists, Paris: Management + Artists) image offers a sultry vision of the Estee Lauder face, complete with dark lips and a retro chic bob worthy of a classic film siren. Patrick Demarchelier shows another side of Constance on Vogue China‘s springy cover shot, a simple portrait that is about as pretty as it gets.

SULTRY CONSTANCE OR FLOWERY CONSTANCE – EVERYBODY WINS!

BATTLE OF THE BLONDES

It is hard to find a flaw on Scarlett Johansson, but how does Elle UK‘s Rankin cover with the Avengers beauty compare to their one and only Anja Rubik? Both stars are clad in minimalist chic, both are looking phenomenal, but ultimately Anja’s cover is the more dynamic of the two. Naturally that means it is also the more difficult one to get your hands on, if you’re in London head on over to Selfridges to get this limited edition Elle cover.

SCARLETT’S ELLE COVER OR ANJA’S ELLE COVER – WHICH GETS YOUR VOTE?

THE TEASERS

LOVE Magazine
s new ‘Clean Issue’ may not have debut just yet, but they really know how to amp up the anticipation. The teaser shots of models of the moment, Cara Delevingne and Edie Campbell by Sølve Sundsbø are elegant without losing any of LOVE’s trademark cool.
