Double Vision: Clear Winner

March 27th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

Transparency was all over the S/S13 runways and as the season draws closer it seems fitting to explore one of its dominant trends. The house whose designs exemplified the look was VALENTINO, where designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli showed a variety of pieces that utilized transparency expertly, revealing skin but keeping the demure sophistication the brand has become known for. Whether they were dazzling with delicate embroidery, or creating a sublime showcase for the body via cutouts, the duo set the standard for diaphanous dressing.

One piece in particular took the look to its logical endpoint and dazzled with its whimsical cheekiness. The PVC trenchcoat embellished with the line’s signature rockstuds has become an editorial favorite, with stylists providing their own take on the Valentino look. The trench lends itself to a myriad of different interpretations and stylists did not disappoint, creating a variety of looks that range from sensual, to avant-garde. When a garment can go from the all out sexy of Missy Rayder‘s powerful image in Numero, to the easy cool on the back of Angela Lindvall it more than proves its versatility.

Beauty Bytes: Josie’s Model Citizens & Swarovski’s Aura

April 13th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

Arguably the most beautiful & exciting thing to come our way this week was the new Swarovski scent, AURA. Ultra-sleek packaging aside (the bottle was designed by Gwenaël Nicolas, man behind some of the world’s architectural masterpieces) the scent completely captures everything we love about Swarovski. A crystal is the perfect final touch, that extra bit of shimmer that makes an ensemble special – Aura is that in a fragrance. The delicate blend of amber, benzoin & white musk sparkles on the skin and with a brand new Aura gloss compact it sparkles on the lips too.

We love when models do something special for a charitable cause, so naturally we’re in love with model turned beauty mogul Josie Maran‘s latest project. For the ‘Model Citizen’ campaign Josie teams up with Petra Nemcova and Angela Lindvall to create limited edition bottles of her line’s famous Argan oil, with bottles designed by each girl & proceeds going to the charities close to the girl’s hearts – Happy Hearts fund, Women for Women & Healthy Child / Healthy World all benefit.

Take a look inside Lara Stone‘s makeup bag and what will you find – apparently a whole lot of Calvin Klein & Sisley! Speaking of Calvin, take a look at our first impressions of the new ck one color collection.

Speculation on who Dior’s newly minted designer, Raf Simons will put on makeup duty is rising. British Vogue takes a look back at Pat McGrath‘s impressive Dior beauty creations during the time of John Galliano, while Style.com suggests Raf might be leaning towards his longtime cosmetic collaborator Peter Philips.

Earth Mother

June 1st, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

Angela Lindvall takes to the pages of Numero Tokyo with her sons William Dakota and Sebastian for a charming story by Matthias Vriens-McGrath. Styled by Susan Rogers Winget, in hippie chic patterns and loads of jewelry, Angela looks right at home in the earthy setting, but the boys steal the show with their adorable presence.
