Art Imitates Life

March 25th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

When it comes to inspirations Vogue Hommes international, always thinks outside the box and in their latest issue they pay tribute to the unique style of Jean-Michel Basquiat with a special editorial. Ty Ogunkoya stars as the late artist, while Cedric Buchet shoots the biographical story – moving from Basquiat’s days as a graffiti artist, to his eventual conquering of the 80s art scene. Each member of the team brought something special to this story: Ty is cast perfectly in this role and brings the right blend of attitude and insouciance to his pictures and Anastasia Barbieri‘s styling combines the latest menswear with Basquiat’s signatures, like paint splattered trousers.

Combat Rock

February 22nd, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

The theme of March’s Vogue Paris, revolves around military influenced styles, so it is no surprise that a number of the editorials inside have an down in the trenches feel. Cedric Buchet drafts Eniko Mihalik for an army influenced editorial that shows off some interesting styling, courtesy of Anastasia Barbieri: working with a palate of khakis and greens, Barbieri manages to create looks that are perfectly in line with the motif.

Seeing A Pattern…

December 11th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Walter Pfeiffer‘s use of pattern within his work, is always intriguing and his colorful editorial for January’s Vogue China is a real treat. The story features Edita Vilkeviciute looking sophisticated in festive pieces chosen by stylist, Anastasia Barbieri, but the most impressive part of the story is  the way that each piece of clothing coordinates perfectly with the backdrop. Whether it is a Dior couture dress looking amazing against a powder pink chaise or gold Westwood almost blending into satin sheets, the styling on this story is just perfect.

Masterful Performance

November 10th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Mariacarla Boscono flair for drama is always put to good use in her editorial work – even the simplest of studio editorials comes to life when Mariacarla turns on the charm and breaks out her expressive poses. Solve Sundsbo‘s elegant black and white shots for Vogue China are taken to the next level by Anastasia Barbieri‘s captivating styling (especially the perfect use of that black and white Jil Sander dress) and Mariacarla’s gift for posing – with each picture she captures a different mood with poise and grace.

Grand Dame

September 23rd, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Yasmin LeBon is one of fashion’s timeless beauties – her classic and graceful good looks have graced magazines for over two decades and she’s still got it. For October’s Vogue Paris Alasdair McLellan captures Yasmin looking resplendent in her home as Anastasia Barbieri styles the supermodel in dramatic jet black. The contrast between the country setting and the couture styling only serves to highlight Yasmin’s dual role of down to earth mother and fashion icon.

Puppy Love

June 4th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Magdalena Frackowiak goes to the dogs for Walter Pfeiffer and Vogue Paris. The humorous story casts Magdelena as a posh socialite with a disdain for pants (how very Lady Gaga) and a love of dogs. Magdelena traipses through 30 Avenue Montaigne with an air of confidence wearing Dior New Look inspired silhouettes courtesy of Anastasia Barbieri‘s sexy styling. That said, the most appealing accessories in the whole story are all those adorable dogs. Major bonus points to anyone who can name all the breeds featured in this editorial!

Rose Tinted

April 7th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Who says guys don’t wear pink? Cedric Buchet creates an engaging vision of modern masculinity for Vogue Hommes International with a little help from Anastasia Barbieri‘ s rose hued styling. The colorful editorial stars newcomer Ben Hill as a man sartorially skilled enough to wear head to toe pastel and still look rugged and dashing.
