River’s Edge

March 6th, 2013 Posted by models.com comments (5)

Performance is trending this season and V Man is not one to miss out. In an homage to the great Nureyev, the men’s mag presents fresh face Dylan River in “Perform,” a set of graceful images by Collier Schorr. With Jay Massacret styling, Dylan is the perfect match for fashion’s dance moment, taking center stage in a variety of organic poses. Fresh from signing with Ford Models and walking Prada and Rag & Bone, Dylan asserts himself in his first editorial as a man of the moment. (Text: Matt Meyer)

Third Time’s A Charm

March 4th, 2013 Posted by Janelle comments (19)

With 3 Vogue Italia covers under her belt in under a year, Vanessa Axente is a clear favorite of Steven Meisel. The duo’s collaborations continue to excite and the March VI cover with it’s streamlined fashion imagery is instantly appealing. With Gustav Swedberg appearing alongside Vanessa and looking every bit as beautiful, the cover shoot is a spectacular showcase for both models and those graphic seasonal fashions selected by Marie-Amélie Sauvé.

Bowie and the Beauties

February 28th, 2013 Posted by contributor comments (5)

Leave it to David Bowie to return to pop culture with a project that blazes across music, fashion, and film. Directed by filmmaker Floria Sigismondi (The Runaways, 2010), Bowie’s fashion-film-meets-music-video for “The Stars (Are Out Tonight)” is a surreal visual feast. Accompanying the latest track off the glam rock icon’s imminent 24th studio album, the film is equal parts Fellini imitation and David Lynch devotion, twisting a wild narrative around tabloids, domesticity, and androgyny. Tilda Swinton lends her acting chops playing Bowie’s wife as Saskia de Brauw and Andrej Pejic‘s deviant celebrity couple invades their lives. Iselin Steiro, rounding out the film’s trio of top models, gets the glammest gig of all playing a young Bowie–the two even lip the words together! What do you make of the video for “The Stars (Are Out Tonight)?” (text by Matt Meyer)

Exclusive : CR Fashion Book’s Olympic Spirit

February 27th, 2013 Posted by Janelle comments (3)

Every so often a fashion editorial looks beyond the usual sources of inspiration and creates something wonderfully unique. The movement and dance focused new issue of CR Fashion Book features a fresh story from Sebastian Faena that was inspired by famed gymnast Nadia Comăneci. Given the popularity of gymnastics and it’s innate visual appeal, it is surprising that we don’t see more fashion stories centered around this theme. The CR editorial is of course top notch and features Magda Laguinge taking on the role of Nadia with style and grace. Magda is even joined by real life gymnast Danielle Beechy for a few rounds on the uneven bars – take an exclusive first look at the story below.

Karmen Chameleon

February 25th, 2013 Posted by Janelle comments (14)

Are we in the midst of a Karmen Pedaru moment? All signs point to yes; as the lithe Estonian burns up the runways of Milan we’re treated to several stunning new covers of Karmen this month. The Pedaru visage is featured on some of the coolest magazines in existence and each image provides its own creative take on her appeal.

As one of the ten top model covers of The Last Magazine, Karmen exudes sensuality in Lachlan Bailey (Paris: Management + Artists, New York: Management + Artists)’s sultry black and white shot. On Flair‘s cover Karmen provides an elegant ease that Katja Rahlwes (Paris: Management + Artists, New York: Management + Artists) captures beautifully. That said, the most unexpected cover shot has to be i-D Magazine‘s trippy Daniel Sannwald (New York: Management + Artists, Paris: Management + Artists) image that comes complete with a gif party.
