Anja In Bloom

March 26th, 2013 Posted by Janelle comments (21)

Prepare for a double dose of Anja Rubik in the latest issue of Vogue Turkey. Cuneyt Akeroglu shows two very different sides of the blonde beauty in dual stories for Vogue. For the newsstand cover and accompanying editorial, Akeroglu plays up Rubik’s skill for posing with studio portraits that highlight her timeless beauty and a well edited selection of dramatic spring looks – most notably that intricately embroidered Balmain dress on the cover. For Anja’s interview and the subscribers cover the focus is all about nature and sweetness, with Anja laying in a bed of flowers and looking fresh as a daisy; both sets of images provide an elegant showcase for one of the most versatile models in the business.

Spring Break

March 21st, 2013 Posted by Betty comments (3)

How ready is everyone for spring? Spanish magazine Fucking Young‘s new issue, with the theme of ’1997′, certainly brightens the blustery day with a delightful dose of the coolest male models garbed in eye catching pieces by Burberry, Ermenegildo Zegna, Fred Perry and more. Luca Finotti shoots and art directs Dutch favorite Ton Heukels for the cover but keep an eye out for the vintage Gianni Versace archive pieces for the inside edit. And yes all those braces were worn solely for the shoot. Check out the cheeky (and teeth-y) video below and preorder it, here.

Editorial Inspiration : Rear Window

March 20th, 2013 Posted by Janelle comments (11)

Hollywood costumer Edith Head’s legendary collaboration with filmmaker, Alfred Hitchcock is one of the most enduring fashion reference points. Head’s costumes with their luxurious detailing and elegant shapes were the ideal compliment to Hitchcock’s sophisticated heroines and together they shaped the iconic “Hitchcock Blonde” look. The duo worked together on nearly a dozen now classic films – Vertigo, Marnie, Notorious, To Catch a Thief, just to name a few and the legacy of those pictures has influenced everyone from Alexander McQueen to Bill Gayten.

The latest industry power player to find inspiration Head / Hitchcock is none other than Vogue Creative Director, Grace Coddington, who creates an impressive take on Rear Window’s 50s style fashions using the season’s key pieces, with the regal Carolyn Murphy filling the shoes of Grace Kelly and actor Tobey Maguire in the Jimmy Stewart role. The story shot by Peter Lindbergh recreates the atmosphere of L.B. Jeffries’ apartment down to the last detail, but gives things a Vogue twist. Ladylike pieces from Marc Jacobs, Oscar De La Renta and Miu Miu are mixed perfectly for a wardrobe that is steeped in vintage glamour, yet keeps its modernity. Carolyn certainly captures the All-American elegance of Grace and even though Tobey Maguire isn’t our first choice for a Jimmy Stewart substitute, this story still has all the charm & intrigue of a Hitchcock flick.

Sweetness & Light

March 13th, 2013 Posted by Janelle comments (22)

The world of beekeeping might seem like an unusual choice of subject matter for a fashion editorial, but in the capable hands of photographer Will Davidson it makes for a compelling and beautiful story. Styled by Jillian Davison and featuring an array of feminine designs from Miu Miu, Rochas, Dior and of course Alexander McQueen, the Vogue Australia images tell a romantic tale with plenty of visual oomph. Models Cassi Van Den Dungen and Lucas Pittaway, look resplendent in Davidson’s images, while the combo of cutting-edge clothes and atmospheric mood make for an especially memorable series.
