Glamour Age

David Sims pulls out all the stops for Vogue’s tribute to American style through the ages. Tonne Goodman‘s styles as Sims touches on several glamorous constructs of American dressing – from Raquel Zimmermann as an electric diva of the screen, to Chanel Iman as a happy-go-lucky flapper or Karlie Kloss and Frida Gustavsson as socialites, each girl is styled to perfection and just right for her theme.

Daria’s photo is kinda like Edita’s in the Wang lookbook. Although I prefer Edita’s more. :)

  12. See Like Me says:

i find these “look through the ages” eds are so off. this just looks confused and i don’t think the studio + location dynamic is working at all. this looks very cut and paste.

    however, FRIDA!

  13. Marcus says:

This is so HOT! I love all the photos here!

  16. janice says:

  17. Joe says:

I really love Liya Kebede’s photo!

  18. Mathew says:

The first two shots just look like a regular old studio shoot from Vogue. Jumping/movement pics in front a grey screen. The kind of editorial they give us every month (two of them in last months issue). So it’s nice to see the breakaway with the picture of Liya and then the rest of the shoot is actually pretty cool. And nice to see from fresh faces in Vogue.

  19. angie says:

Frida and Karlie are my fave… love love love the style, poses, all of it!

  20. Marilyn says:

love Lara ,Mirte and Patricia so much YAY

  21. poo says:

This is terrific. So much to love. The Liya outdoor shot is a nice break. Heiresses is perfect.

  22. Nigel S. says:

    Amazing.
Karlie is certainly working to pay that gas bill! Love that image.

I think that the image of Chanel is perhaps my favorite. It wreaks of fast-jazz. Hear the symbols and drums colliding a la Charlie Parker.

Raquel is amazing as per usual. She’s selling the story from head to toe.
Liya is very believable. Could she had done any better of a job portraying the angst with a side order of over powering optimism?! Beautiful.

That styling on Sasha by Tonne is an absolute dream!!

  23. marvoi says:

love all the shots except the 1st and last shots

  24. The Editor says:

I can’t wait to get this issue sucks that where I live it comes pretty much last. Chanel’s flapper is amzing.

  25. dodz says:

woooo great outfit i love it

  26. modellobello says:

I’M GLAD THAT AMERICAN VOGUE FINALLY MIXED UP THEIR MODELS A LITTLE!! I JUST HOPED THAT THIS EDITORIAL REFLECTED ON THE COVER!!

  27. peterModelObsessed says:

Karlie Kloss walks like she’s on air in the catwalk. Very light, dreamy and elegant. The most elegant to be exact!

Is it because of her ballet lessons?

  28. GP says:

    Chanel’s msile like Angelina Jolie.

PterModel, you are right. Karlie is always like flowing on catwalk or picture like she doesn’t have body weight at all.

  29. carola says:

Great, although that Daria pic is awful, I get it but it just doesn’t look good on her (and she’s an incredibly gorgeous woman).

Love seeing Frida here, what a face.

And Lara.. she should be on the cover of American Vogue.

  30. Gerard says:

American VOGUE’s really whipping into better shape…
I love, love, love Chanel’s Flapper…Her smile is just so beautiful. Karlie Kloss, my God, I wrote on my blog how I’m a little sick of seeing her on VOGUE, scratch that..Beautiful. Kasia Struss too is divine. Actually, everyone’s just super fine. Is this Grace Coddington’s?! Please say yes.

  31. Gerard says:

    oh it’s there…Tonne Goodman…my bad.

  32. Elizabeth says:

    Karlie looks incredible-as always.
Frida looks a tad forced, though.

  33. pedro dias says:

I find it confusing and choppy… it looks like a lookbook and not an editorial…is this one story??
I love the casting….! The girls are awesome
    :-)

  34. Mango says:

    Wow!
    Everyone did a perfect job.

  35. AL GIGA says:

i think these pics are so boring! very deja vu!! and boring photgraphs! but whats more is these pics are SO NOT AMERICAN STYLE!!!!!! THE ONLY PIC THAT REPRESENTS AMERICAN STYLE IS DARIA!!! I HOPE VOGUE WILL PRODUCE SOME MORE INNOVATIVE AND FASHIONABLE SHOOTS FOR NEXT ISSUE!!! AND RAQUEL WITH RED HAIR IS JUST OFFFF!

  36. Janelle says:

Expound on what is un-American about this editorial.

  37. Karen says:

I prefer Karlie, Liya and Kasia here. It’s amazing this ed! American Vogue…hmm

  38. Young Vagabond says:

I Love Lara, Karlie & Sasha

  39. ryostylin says:

I don’t like the mix of studio and location shots as a complete story.
