In the Heights
March 16th, 2010 Janelle comments (18)Mario Sorrenti takes Liya Kebede higher for Vogue Italia, with an editorial that shows off Liya’s incomparable grace. Even when she is stretched out on a Manhattan fire escape Liya exudes confidence and elegance, she takes the outfits chosen by George Cortina and makes them come to life. The pictures themselves have an almost kinetic quality, the high contrast black and white, combined with the extremely low angle, creates a sense of motion – Sorrenti fans might be reminded of last year’s Live from New York editorial, which used the same tricks to great effect.

She’s in U.S, Vogue again in the April issue (a Mert and Marcus story). I like this one cause she’s sexy in a way she isn’t in U.S. Vogue (love both).

I love Liya K and think she is one of the most beautiful women in the world BUT this editorial does not do her justice. It looks amature on the part of the photographer, model, and stylist.

Apparently Liya has just been reborn! It’s like a completely revamped Liya. This could be very good for her! I have enjoyed her edits very much over the past few months but something about this gives her the true versatility stamp of approval! Perfect timing for the editorial climate and dynamic enough create new buzz.

I love liya and Miesel but I am not feeling this editorial. It’s not creative and just the typical big-hair-standing-on-the-staircase editorial.
