Snake Handler
January 25th, 2010 Janelle comments (28)Knoepfel & Indlekofer, get dark and deadly for the latest Vogue Paris, shooting Anja Rubik clad in brilliant gems and giant snakes for the Bijoux feature. Veronique Didry‘s styling makes it hard to tell where the clothes end and the snakes begin, but that only serves to make the images even more intriguing. Given that this is the second snake-centric story in under a week, could we be seeing the beginnings of a trend?

@ Nigel S
Snakes are definitely in! This is Gorgeous. This shot is highly artistic. Professionally and tastefully well done compared “to the other One”!
Sometimes you need to hold back, to show beauty.
Sometimes, LESS is MORE!!!
Nigel, Dear, Don’t you agree??

Anja Rubik….poised to be number 1 muse this year?
Her newly svelte figure is helping to cataputl Anja’s career to major heights!
Super!

I think that the trend now in modelling is that, there’s no more instant Stars. Gone are the fairy tales about 14 year old girls discovered at an airport or macdonalds, whisked to paris and became overnight sensation.
I think that Natasha Poly and Raquel Zimmerman’s career changed the name of the game. NOW a model, to be number 1, needs to have an extended successful body of work to prove her merits……
I see Anja going into that direction.
what do you think???

I think this is a very strong editorial shoot! It also reminds me of the new McQueen campaign. I believe carrying snakes around is the trend for S/S, hah.

Totally agree with Marcus, snakes seem to be the “thing” at the moment with the McQueen campaign aswell. Much prefer these shots of Anna with the snakes thoough, wow she’s great.

It’s such a hard look to pull off when you’re looking down your nose chin up, it can make your face look so weird on camera but Anja looks AMAZING,
such a beautiful selection of photographs!

@fashionStudent
yes, only a handful of model blessed with exquisite bone structure can pull this trick….
Natasha Poly, Gisele Bundchen, Kate MOss ……
I have to see this pose yet on Lara, Raquel or Daria.

Nastassia Kinskis by, was it Scavullo, Avedon? is still the best of the snake-with-model look. Now, that was one jaw-dropping photo.

I am in accordance Peter. Sometimes less gets the job done!
I’m all about textured minimalism. Though, I do have quite the fancy (understatement) for (tasteful) excess.. either works for me if it works for me.
