Supernormal

August 13th, 2014 Posted by Janelle comments (20)

Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott (Art Partner) ditch their superglossy style in favor of the naturalistic in this picturesque story from W Magazine‘s star studded September issue. The glamour is still there (it’s hard to shoot a cast this gorgeous without infusing some glamour into the images) but the focus is on the normal, unfussy charm of t-shirts, jeans and hoodies. Led by Kate Moss the beautiful cast poses understated pieces chosen by Edward Enninful, stripped of the gowns and finery the group looks at completely at ease – more like a gathering of good friends than a group of the world’s top models. Daria Werbowy, Mariacarla Boscono, Raquel Zimmermann, Saskia de Brauw, Lara Stone, Suvi Koponen, Meghan Collison, Anna Ewers, Mica Arganaraz, Daan van der Deen, Filip Hrivnak and Steve Milatos make for a gorgeous group – especially in the shots where they’re sporting skivvies and smiles.

  6. Michael says:

    Super boring, super reductive..

  7. Joe says:

    I love the first image!

  8. Sheppard says:

I agree with Michael. It is freaky the way hundreds of models selected to show fashion all look the same. That’s creative?Old white guys have a bad reputation but they are less boring than young white girls.

  9. Vaho Vaho says:

super cast but the editorial is quite boring…

  10. Vaho Vaho says:

plus I am not being funny but does Kate Moss really belong to this generation of supermodels? It’s a bit of a pushing too hard… I know she works a lot nowadays but she is not exactly the part of this group of girls…

Mert & Marcus still have to come up with their own photographing aesthetics…

Meghan didn’t get the memo to smile in the second picture.

  15. Mia says:

Love Kate & Lara but this is all rather boring. In regards to the comments, Kate is the only supermodel I see! I do wish people would stop abusing the term.

  16. Many says:

de bon en silence et toujours cette cuisse pendante du long de ta larme.

Actually, I love Kate. She is getting more popular with age, working all the time at 40, she has not succumbed to pumping herself full of fillers or getting lifts, she is natural and obviously very loved by every photographer. And to be fair, the woman still looks striking and fabulous as ever

  18. Joel says:

Joan and Karlie not being a part of this is beyond ridiculous. None of the girls there, except Kate, have the level of fame outside of fashion that Joan and Karlie have. Both of them also have the resumes to back it up!

    :))
