The Silk Road

November 19th, 2013 Posted by Janelle comments (12)

It’s difficult not to have a soft spot for American Vogue‘s actor + model editorials and over the years the magazine has given us more than a few memorable pairings; Gisele and George Clooney, Gemma Ward and Josh Hartnett, Liya Kebede & Andre 3000, the list goes on. For the December issue Vogue takes things to the next level, enlisting Kate Moss and this year’s Oscar front-runner Chiwetel Ejiofor for a Mario Testino (Art Partner) helmed story that takes the pair to Istanbul on a romantic getaway. Sporting resort looks from BurberryJason Wu and a bit of SS14 Proenza Schouler as styled by Tonne Goodman, the pair looks resplendent. With architectural wonders like the Çinili Köşk as the backdrop and Testino showcasing the beauty of Istanbul in every shot the story also serves as an especially chic travel diary.

Am I allowed to state how terrible this Vogue cover looks?!

my obsession for miss moss has no limit but this is quite boring and the combo actor / model is not enough to make a great story

  4. GP says:

Kate Moss looks awesome here. Thanks to Mario Testino.

Jessica’s post look weird on the cover. I rather to see Moss.

    Pose, not post.

these are some beautiful pictures. the colors are rich. I particularly like the one she’s sitting on the couch. it’s regal

Yep, do not like Jessica cover. She has the potential to be styled so much better. WTH happened here?

  8. Joe says:

Jessica Chastain is a beautiful woman, that is not a beautiful photograph. It should be very easy to make Jessica look good.

  9. Nigel S. says:

The images are quite beautiful. There is a strong sense of richly intimate moments frozen in time.

Regarding the cover – perhaps her right arm could have been placed in a more flattering grace but overall I do appreciate the cover from an artistic perspective.

It strongly reminds of Botticelli’s Venus.
Which for me, works very well.

When will American Vogue start using beautiful models on the cover again?!

I have Always adored Kate and find her the best cover girl of all times really. But the amount of photoshop here really is too much, it is no secret she has some lines in her face (she’s 40) but nothing so dramatic that lighting and make-up can’t fix. This is too much airbrushing for my taste and she doesn’t even need it.

I adore that Art Deco-looking dress she has on in the 3rd photo. Kate Moss will always be gorgeous, I agree, she doesn’t need all the photoshop done to her face.

The cover bothers me, maybe it’s the weird toes sticking out under her dress.
