September 3rd, 2013 Posted by Janelle comments (19)

Magazine covers come and go, but only the cream of the crop find themselves on the front page of Vanity Fair. Girl du jour Kate Upton channels Marilyn Monroe on the legendary glossy’s 100th anniversary edition in a pinup shot by Annie Leibovitz that capture’s Kate’s vintage appeal. With a century of history to explore within the issue, this is certain to be one of the most jam packed and exciting editions yet. For celebrity and fashion lovers in search of even more classic VF imagery, never fear – a full coffee table book “Vanity Fair: 100 Years,” is slated for release come October.

Can’t get enough Kate? Check out VF’s slideshow of Miss Upton’s top fashion moments.

    Gorgeous cover!!

  4. Gustavo says:

She is indeed a beautiful woman, gorgeous, curves and all. But this cover is more appropriate for TV Guide magazine (unless we agree that Vanity Fair has long lost its relevance and is no longer a fashion bible, which would, somehow, elucidate the lack of quality regarding the choice of this month´s cover).

    Yawn

  6. b says:

I think this cover is beautiful and I didn’t like her at first but I must admit she has grown on me and she does sexy/elegant so well.

  7. natasha says:

    I can’t. Sorry.

  8. modellobello says:

WOW!!!! WHY ISNT SHE NUMBER # 1 ON THE TOP MODELS?? SHE DOESNT NEED ALL THE ADVERTISEMENT DEALS, SHE IS OBVIOUSLY THE NUMBER ONE MODEL OF THE MOMENT.. COME ON NOW, SHE EVEN LANDED THE HARDEST COVERS TO LAND FOR A MODEL, AMERICAN VOGUE AND AMERICAN VANITY FAIR.

  9. SASHA says:

This cover is horrid. This is only a phase. Being blonde and blue eyed helps. Joan Deserves to be #1, she works her butt off.

  10. GP says:

Pip up girl! She is gorgeous and yeah, she suits VF cover better. Is she a model? Maybe she takes modeling in to another level.

  11. JPS says:

Seriously she looks more enchanting in the smaller size of this picture like in the homepage. When the picture in large size i can see a small cavity in her mouth that seems not so good. she’s bombshell, she can be more than this.

divine! finaly someone who have something that is real and shine! joan who?

Super Model! Beautiful and all that!
Vanity Fair cover. She is here to stay.

  14. LD says:

Sadly, modellobello speaks the truth. There is no denying she deserves the top spot. Now, whether she deserved those covers is another issue entirely. This VF cover here is definitely bland. Alas, there’s no taking back the fact that her face has “graced” them.

I’m all for models gracing covers, though I’m not exactly against movie stars posing for them either. But, whoever the mags choose, can we at least get someone other than a buxom, blue-eyed blond as the symbol of the all-American beauty.

  15. Nádia says:

Her blank expression kills any sympathy I might have for this “Doesn’t she look like Marilyn Monre” attempt.

I’m all for diversity (thinking about her body shape), but this is actually America at her finest, continually idolizing any blonde girl with blue eyes and some meat in her bones that appears. (Not that I find Kate Upton ordinary, I actually think she’s got a type of face that some people might not find beautiful).

That being said, she has more of an actress allure about her than a model, imo. I’m not anti-Kate, I just don’t understand all the hype where there are far more hardworking and versatile girls out there.

But kudos for her, she should enjoy this moment!

  16. Mia says:

The cover is awful but I like Kate. I’d pick her over most of the models of today. It’s one of the reasons why she keeps on getting big covers! Outside the fashion world, every model is seen as just another skinny kid. Just look at all the models.com new models posts, a good 90% look tired, dead in the eyes and lack charisma. That’s why you’ve got girls like Kate Upton & Cara D-however you spell her last name getting all the attention from the people beyond the fashion world.

  17. JW says:

I must admit I agree with Mia’s commentary. Many people here commented on Kate’s expression but the same can be said of many of the current fashion models. If it were any other model many of you would bestow them with accolades. She’s not perfect but the Kate give her credit for being versatile.

  18. mdlbrnbk says:

    IMG’s got dat power.

  19. Bruce Edwin says:

Kate Upton is a great model, but Vanity Faire is to fashion (or news for that matter) what Jerry Springer is to news journalism- cheesy trash.
