Variations On A Theme

July 23rd, 2009 Posted by Janelle comments (18)

Someone at Vogue Paris must really love Kristen McMenamy. After paying tribute to the supermodel’s classic Vogue Italia with a tribute cover in March, they enlist Iris Strubegger to once again play the role of Kristen. This time around the story revolves around luxe jewelry and Patrick Demarchelier does the shooting but what really strikes us is how fresh a recycled  Steven Meisel concept looks after all these years.

why not hire the Real Kristen to do the job? She’s trying to make a comeback right?

  2. AJP says:

    I agree with Ambigous

  3. MaoaM says:

its like in the music. iris makes a remix of kirsten and iris is the number one, despite of the remix.

  4. AJP says:

And I bet Kristen isn’t making any money off of someone else impersonating her.

    SHES GREAT

  6. Gustavo says:

Well well….the folks above have already said it! This is the second time a magazine asks Iris to play the role of a supermodel of the nineties…i wonder if she ever gets tired of being compared to someone who was by far more famous and known, waaay before she thought about modeling!
Lets give Kristen the chance to appear on Vogue Paris please!
CARINE HELLOOOOO!! Kristen is waiting for your call!

    Hot!!

  8. MaoaM says:

kirsten should be – how you call – copywrighted?

  9. Kim says:

    Great points. Hilarious!

  10. Matthew says:

If anything it just defines Kristen’s supermodels status, she’s being impersonated because she’s amazing at what she does, and she knows that. Everyone who’s anyone knows who Iris is impersonating. Im sure Kristen and her ego love it :) She is a SUPERMODEL and knows it. And as far as Iris not getting recognition as being Iris, again anyone who’s anyone knows it is Iris on the cover, and I’m also sure Iris looks at is as another Vogue cover (an awesome addition to the already top campaigns currently filling the pages of her books)

Enough of this tribute, when the real Kristen is just out there, still around and still doing some works, and still looking fiercer than ever. Give Kristen a call and put her in the Cover or do a 25 pages spread…Now that’s the ultimate Tribute, in my opinion.

saw this pic of Kristen McMenamy. Cannot be duplicate!

  12. Ambigous says:

The first pic of Iris above, is just too cutesy and girly/feminine. Ms McMenamy is known for her being Androgynous.

  13. Ambigous says:

    hi MaoaM

    It’s “Kristen” McMenamy, not “Kirsten”.

You remind me of another great British Model, Kirsten Owen……she was a muse to Helmut Lang, and also has an alternative look!

  14. trumancapote says:

does Steven Meisel or A+C pay u guys?
the concept belog to a dozen of art direcotrs n editors of vogue italia…Franca Sozzani tells u anything…lol

  15. MaoaM says:

i realized about kristens name a bit to late, shameful :) thank you

of course i know kirsten! her legendary walk and cool but very friendly facial expression are unforgettable. i miss it on the runways nowadays.

somebody said katrin thormann looks like kirsten owen, but it is not the same. katrin is great, but shows not much personality as kirsten did.

  16. Idan says:

Wow! i love the 2nd shot! its so me! and i love this craaazy styling!

  17. Stephen Hudgins says:
