True classics never go out of style – the original supermodels always manage to make their presence felt and this month’s Vogue Italia showcases some of our old familiar favorites looking incredible. Mario Sorrenti shoots Helena Christensen, Naomi Campbell, Eva Herzigova and Christy Turlington in a series of shots that are pure glamour. Sadly, only 4 supers are featured – which 90s era models would you love to see shot by Sorrenti? My vote goes to La Linda.

Helena and Christy are still my favourites, since the 90’s. But I heard about some strange case of stalking by Karen Mulder and was guessing if a reappearance would be helpful. I always loved her. So my list for Mr Sorrenti would be long: Linda, Karen, Yasmeen (Ghauri of course), Tatjana, Nadja… Claudia Stephanie and Cindy…

the photos are all gorgeous, of course. nothing but the best from monsieur sorrenti, as usual. as for the question of which other original supermodel i would have liked to see in the spread, i’d have to say it’s a three-way tie between nadja auermann, kristen mcmenamy, and tatjana patitz. mario’s photos always have such a special, poetic, almost shadowy etherealness to them and i think all three of those girls are perfectly suited to his moody style.

Naomi’s beauty here is just too much. Aside from Eva Herzigova, they really do look dated, sooo 90’s. Linda Evangelista should be here. A true celebration of beauty should always include Linda. I don’t know what about that Linda that when you see a picture of her you feel sense of Happiness, Exhilration, Positiveness and Hope….the women above look a bit gloomy. A bit sad. Maybe’s they don’t have Linda’s eyes that twinkles at photos, or her smile, the shape of her mouth and her gums….lol…
There’s something about Linda that is missing above. Can you guys tell me what it is?

helena looks like batman here or like she’s wearing a mask or something. Helenas trademark, one eyebrow prominent arch, was lost here. it’s a crucial part of helena’s dark sexy look. and christy was drowned by too much hair. christy’s natural hair is thinner.

I love these photos! Naomi looks incredible! Well, to be fair, all these women look great! I have to disagree with Ambigous…I don’t think any of them look dated. I think part of what Sorrenti was trying to convey here was how – despite the similarity in hairstyles with Christy, Helena and Naomi – their faces are distinctly and recognizably DIFFERENT. One thing that sets the supermodel era apart from all the others was the fact that women from various ethnic backgrounds with different body types were accepted.
I do agree with Ambigous in regards to Linda Evangelista. It would have been great to see Sorrenti photograph Linda here, too. But I’m much more interested in seeing HOW Sorrenti would shoot Linda and which version of Linda that Sorrenti would shoot instead of seeing her as part of this group of esteemed women.
As for the retouching/ps remarks. For those in the know, yes, it’s obvious. But I think it’s much more bizarre to see today’s much younger models (Sasha P is a prime example)getting equally photoshopped and plasticized for a photo. I think no matter what the age these days, EVERYONE gets a touch-up makeover!
