Steven Klein‘s editorial work has always teetered on the edge of darkness, with subject matter ranging from robotic housewives, to maniacal couples being ever present in his images. For the latest issue of Interview Klein creates a violent fantasy world that seems ripped from the headlines. Crystal Renn stars as an abused asylum patient and Karolina Kurkova as her icy nurse captor. As usual Ludivine Poiblanc‘s styling is perfection and Klein’s photography has an eerie cinematic feel, but does the extreme bondage and dark nature of the story work for you? Let us know in the comments!

Klein always makes great photography. I love his aesthetic of saturations, so eye-catching and crisp they are, but I don’t like the theme here.(I HATE THE SECOND AND THIRD PHOTOS, BUT LOVE THE FIRST AND LAST.)It’s almost too extreme, plus I’ve never gotten into the bondage theme, even years ago when he was doin it in VHJ. I guess what I’m sayin is great photography, just want something else from Steven Klein.

  4. Model man says:

It is a BIT much for me. I wish they stayed on the theme of the first photo which to me is BRILLIANT. Then pic three just makes me feel creeped out. But over-the-top is his thing, and I give credit where it is due: the man can take a picture!!

  5. Marty says:

I love Steven Klein. He can do no wrong. I think this could have worked without Crystal Renn, she gorgeous but I really don’t enjoy her look since her weight loss. She lost her edge.

  6. Max Records says:

I don’t like the look of his pictures anymore.. they used to look so photographic and beautiful … this looks like like its been through a dodgy iphone app

  7. Mango says:

    This is disturbing, sorry

  8. charlotte says:

eh. they should keep the “saw/hostel” look to D-rated movies.. not the fashion magazines. Its not new or innovative either.. Next please

  9. Esmee says:

Steven Klein is amazing – he does everything right and pushes the aesthetics of art photography “as we know it” to breaking point – but one wonders how far this sort of thing can go? Basically Bourdin and Newton did the dark (lesbian) sex thing 25 plus years ago and it’s been done to death….this is just a rehash..any more takes on fashion photography?

Those 2 amazing woman have been able to turn Klein idea into reality… pure perfection !!!!!!

  14. JS says:

Too dark and typically illuminati themed poison. Abuse scenes are never sexy only to the warped minded.

  15. Nádia says:

I think it’s a great theme and it has great images, but Karolina looks just a little too icy, to the point that she doesn’t even seem to be really there.

Crystal, on the other hand, did it sooo well!

  18. MD says:

Hideous! Yet another example of shock and weird for weird sake by Mr. Klein. Nothing about fashion, beauty, and fantasy. This isn’t ramping up fashion. It is trying to get attention and headlines by stealing them. I can get looks and attention by walking down the street naked but does that have anything to do with fashion, beauty or of the moment. Sorry but this misses the mark…actually misses the entire target.
Hair and makeup are beautiful and styling are impeccable! Also post production is what the real genius of the look.

  19. Jess says:

    this is terrible.
you can’t make art out of something as evil as an abduction.
    i hate this. truly.

So audaciously wrong, yet I love it.The story behind this campaign makes me shiver. Great job!

  28. subnormal magazine says:

so it appears our last comment on this was deleted, which discussed actual abuses and rape that occurs in mental hospitals and how that is not something to glamorize or make light of as this editorial does…why this was deleted is not logical to us, as a result, we have no further interest in this site

crystal renn reminds me of Past Supermodel Gia… but for my generation. in GOOD Way…. THAT BONE STRUCTURE equally both sexes n more! she needs better managerment or booker

  30. Simon Velasco says:

genius! KK is perfect for this, and Crystal Renn looks like an actress!

  31. Angel says:

The first and second photos are alright, but the 3rd and 4th are really pornographic. It’s pretty gross. Also in the 3rd photo Crystal Renn looks like she had a baby pushed up into her ribcage, not a good look.

  32. Christopher Y says:

    MY GOSH!!! GREAT!!! *speechless*
