Little Monsters

February 14th, 2012 Posted by Janelle comments (30)

If you break from your busy fashion week schedule to take a look at one editorial, it ought to be Love Magazines imaginative and raw Tim Walker story, ‘The Origin of Monsters’ featuring Kristen McMenamy. Arachnophobes might want to skip this one, but everyone else can enjoy the spooky mix of oversized insects and a host of prime pieces with unusual origins chosen by Katie Grand. There is some vintage Dior couture (you may remember the golden armor from 06) a couple of chain mail headdresses from the Royal National Theater and of course the edgy editorial prerequisite, Alexander McQueen. It might be too early to start picking 2012’s best stories, but Kristen as an otherworldly, monster slayer certainly qualifies as a standout.

Wow!! Kristen is the grand dame of this over-the-edge, couture kinda fashion. Her look was made to be captured this way. Lady McMenamy is my favorite old school super now, hands down. Week!!

@anlabe, I love guinevere, but she can’t give raw, unsettling energy like Kristen. No model could have gave it quite the same freakiness she brings here save perhaps Natasa V. The depth of her posing is beyond! Just look at her legs in the 5th pic. This is epic. It certainly makes me want to get that issue. BRAVO!

this woman… this woman is more then a model. legend and an artist. the way she portrays a story… it’s beyond words. modern thin version of Renaissance beauty.

@tjglam I think its a matter of taste and preference. I quite like Tim’s airy style of photography. Likewise, I always give most of the work Mert and Marcus do some serious side-eye but I know that they hit the right notes for a lot of people. While I’m all for personal opinions I think one should always keep in mind that one’s own opinion isn’t the only one that counts.
