Every year the CFDA Fashion fund gives emerging designers a chance to take things to that next level, but ever wonder what happens behind the scenes? This year Vogue offers up a birds eye view of the competition and camaraderie, following the 10 nominated labels (Joseph Altuzarra, Pamela Love, Antonio Azzuolo, Carlos Campos, Shane Gabier and Chris Peters of Creatures of the Wind, Alexa Adams and Flora Gill of Ohne Titel, Michelle Ochs and Carly Cushnie of Cushnie et Ochs, Dana Lorenz for Fenton/Fallon, Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty of Suno, Soraya Silchenstedt of Finn Jewelry) as they compete for fashion’s premier prize in the web-series The Fashion Fund.
While we all know by now that Joseph Altuzarra walks away with the coveted prize, it is still engrossing to watch the next generation of talent as they express themselves and their vision. Forget the standard “fashion” reality fare you’ve seen before, the six part series produced by Break Thru Films and directed by Annie Sundberg and Ricki Stern is more in line with docs like The September Issue.
