Campaign Candy
January 9th, 2012 Janelle comments (26)Mulberry’s spring ads are the stuff of Tumblr dreams, Lindsey Wixson, Frida Gustavsson and a giant melting ice cream cone by Tim Walker? The sugar level is off the charts, but who can resist such a sweet treat?! Shot on location in Brighton with set design by Andy Hillman and styling by Edward Enninful, the girlish ads are joyful and creative. Those cream colored Bayswater satchels and bright high heeled wedges are almost as tempting as the massive hard candies.

Steven Meisel takes three legendary supers and one outstanding newbie to create a classically minded campaign. Naomi Campbell, Kristen McMenamy, Karen Elson and Daphne Groeneveld join forces for a striking ad that brings to mind Avedon’s epic Versace ads from the 80s.

Natasha Poly as a modern pin up girl is a campaign concept we can get behind. Willy Vanderperre and Olivier Rizzo create an enticing series of images that capitalize on Ms. Poly’s natural allure and the appealing mix of pattern & texture found in Proenza’s spring collection. The clothes are front and center here and they look phenomenal: sign us up for a pair of those heels!

Akris is known for their appealing take on minimal fashions and the spring campaign takes that idea and runs with it. Karim Sadli shoots Daga Ziober in the backseat of a vintage car wearing Albert Kriemler’s gorgeous designs.

Love Cavalli casting. Supermodels for sure.
PS is nice too but would have been better with a different model.
I thought Jil Sander would be included. That campaign is already iconic. That’s the best campaign of the season, maybe even the best in a couple of seasons.

I love Roberto Cavali it looks so amazing and I love how they induced Daphne with the mix of Supermodels, I also love the fact that it looks like an old Gianni Versace campaign.

Karen sure loves resting her knee on Daphne’s bottom – what an unusual pose….

Daphne looks really out of place to me, like bring your daughter to work day. Its the tilt of her chin, the lack of tension in the muscles around the eyes. She looks painfully green compared to miss McMenamy, who knows exactly where to focus her laser vision
Daga looks so pretty, such beautiful bone structure!

Mulberry is totally perfect for a spring campaign. Natasha looks powerful and in control in Proenza Schouler.
My favorite has to be Akris. The set, the photograph, the up and coming model, and the fashion…man, everything comes together and creates such a good shot.
Robert Cavalli – awful. Completely hideous. No matter how star-studded the cast is, the poses just look awkward and uncomfortable. I hate it…

ahahahaa I have to agree with trumancapote on that!! Fashion folks should have an altar with a picture of Kristen McMenamy on it, she should be worshipped by all!

Why daphne?? sorry but she does not belong to that place.. her face expressions.. cant compare to these icon models.. really.. love natasha in proenza.. she is so comfortable even though we know that she cant be thaat comfortable in those poses.. love it! mulberry and akris are great!!

Love Cavalli but Daphne is trying too hard.

The Meisel pics look strange to me. Kristen’s top is so awkward in the second pic. The shoes are just awful. The poses are forced. Even seasoned-vet Naomi looks awkward here. These are badly-spliced together. Is this really Meisel? I’m at a loss for words. He’s my master, but I when I see this, I can only think: poor Avedon; he deserves better.

Im sorry but there is a fine line between homage and blatant rip off…the cavalli campaign is definitely the former. Shame…

1 – My favorite is OF COURSE -> PROENZA SCHOULER!!!
2 – Mulberry is cute as always – consistent with the brand’s message season after season…
3 – I have some reservation with Roberto Cavalli, but the casting is quite interesting – DAPHNE nailed it!!!
4 – Daga – GORGEOUS…!!! so in line with Akris’ look – so fresh and so clean!!!

Ummmm the cavalli ad is so over retouched look at Kristen’s leg in the second shot is twisted in an impossible position. gross.

willy has lost it and become one of the most overrated photographers working at his level. his proenza ads are bad copies of carlo molino. and his jil sander ads are amateur versions of jean loup sieff.

Please put Natasha Poly in the icon list, why not? Why she must be penalized? She wasn’t number one because you put Lara, now she deserves the icon list, why wait Lara? You will never put her in the 1st spot so why wait? Please….

guys since the models thread on fashion spot is closed i try to say my personal opinion about the top 50′s lit. You should make in the top 5 Saskia de Brauw (She’s on fire: Chanel, Loewe, Zara, Karl Lagerfeld) and Karmen Pedaru (Michael Kors, Gucci, Bottega Veneta & Chloe). Natasha Poly should go to the icon list (She proves she’s a veteran with an amazing carrer began in 2003) and take Lara 1st for another season, no one is ready yet.
My list is
5) Karmen Pedaru
Saskia de Brauw
4) Abbey Lee Kershaw
Joan Smalls
3) Arizona Muse
Karlie Kloss
2) Freja Beha Erichsen
1) Lara Stone
Anja should stay only in the money list. She’s from another era, too old for the top 50 in front of young girls like Arizona or Karlie. Sasha is pregnant and i think if you remove her is the best thing
Just my personal opinion!!
Hope you won’t delete this
