Nightlife

October 10th, 2011 Posted by Janelle comments (20)

Take away the cultivated coating of sleaze from Terry Richardson‘s work and you’re left with a surprisingly skillful snapshot photographer. Case in point his latest story for British Vogue is an elegant and upbeat trip through Manhattan nightlife. With the neon lights of the Odeon in the background, the bouyant energy of Karlie Kloss and some killer styling by Charlotte Pilcher, the editorial captures the vibrant life of a girl on the go. As always Karlie brings an effortless quality to her poses and her wholesome natural glamour shines, even when she’s dressed as a female version of Mr. Richardson or munching on a plate of french fries.

Is Karlie on a campaign to change her image? The last few edits I’ve seen of her are definitely more ‘mature’ looking and less of the nice girl from Utah. :)

  2. anlabe says:

Some of his shots are so tasteless, even when you have a tasty meal in front of you.

  3. Viewer says:

Karlie is so current and relevant – true supermodel

  4. macaroon says:

These remind me of Lindsey’s collab with Terry for Japanese Vogue

  5. trumancapote says:

  7. poo says:

These remind me of another girl-out-on-the-town story he did for Paris Vogue with Daria years ago. It was really terrific, all the more so because Daria looked elegantly wasted. This is good but a more PG version.

  8. Janelle says:

poo, I remember that story – very great shot of Daria with a mask in that feature, probably one of my favorite Terry shoots ever.

  9. Nádia says:

  15. IS THIS IT? models review says:

Wow, there are some shots I like really a lot (1st, 3rd, 5th and last).
Btw, general consideration: if Frida somehow lost her “little girl vibe”, she’s now 18 in fact, and her still delicate and sweet beauty is now marked by a renewed and more mature femininity, talking about Karlie she somehow had that kind of mature and strong femininity in her DNA imo, so I’m delightfully charmed, enchanted, captivated – but not exactly surprised I guess.

  16. Alisha says:

BO-ring. How often have we come across similar shoots!

  17. person says:

I thought Karlie was from St. Louis…either way, even her flamboyant and alluring energy can’t really carry the awkwardness of the shoot.

  18. poo says:

@janelle: yes, that’s it. From May 2007. One of my all time Terry favorites too.
