Paris in New York
June 29th, 2011 Janelle comments (19)As a brand Yves Saint Laurent embodies the kind of modern elegance every woman strives for: who better to capture this than Raquel Zimmermann? Sporting a short crop and a pale powdered face, Raquel looks equal parts mannequin and muse in the fall ads shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. With the NYC skyline serving as a backdrop (the campaign was shot right in Midtown) and an it-bag dangling from Raquel’s shoulder, the shot is an appealing mix of old and new.

I enjoy this, but it’s kinda of boring.
I wanted to see something like with Arizona, in Morocco, but this works.
with Raquel anything is amazing.

im not quite sure what tho think about this.. her boy and the angles of all of her limbs just looks a little strange; i seems as though each segment has been copied and pasted cheaply into the wrong place. of course that is just my opinion and im sure some people will love it – but to me its just a little bizarre-looking. the clothes dont look great and rachael doesnt look as good as she normally does so i dont think the ad achieves what it should given the resources used. not impressed with how many campaigns are shaping up so far this season

The clothes and the bag are so good I didn’t even notice the shot is kinda lame, not like past campaigns (although Raquel is a sensational model). But the clothes are so great…If only all major designers were that good.

Reminds me a lot of the David Sylvian/Japan era, very well-styled

hate this with a passion! face- good-makeup looks like twilight- hair lady diana, from the clothes point of view- this the jacket would make any woman look huskey and the pants are boring- and with the hand in the pocket looks like a giant shlong. and the bag- yes well y? let down

Personally, simply the kind of image I don’t know what to think about… even if, wait: these days Freja @ Chanel has first place from that point of view…
