The best story in Vogue Italia this month is also the darkest. Craig McDean eschews his signature prismatic colors for deep dark tones and a sense of mystery. Evelina Mambetova, Suzie Bird, Jourdan Dunn, Eniko Mihalik & Magdalena Frackowiak are the vampiric muses behind the artist’s work and each girl takes to the theme like its second nature. With all the sweetness and light (read: boring) spring stories floating around right now this little detour into darkness is a welcome respite from the mundane.

Not always SAM. Great photographers draw the best out of their models + good models take direction from photogs and give them exactly what they’ve been asked for… this could even be “lifeless.”
