Golden Boy
May 6th, 2009 Betty comments (8)MDC favorite Travis Davenport stars as the love interest for Audrey Tatou in the new Chanel no 5 fragrance spot. The two replace Nicole Kidman and Rodrigo Santoro who starred in the last commercial, which was shot in 2004. The new short “film”, helmed by the director of “Amélie” (Tatou’s breakthrough movie) tells the story of a young man who becomes enchanted with an alluring young woman after a brief encounter on the Orient Express. Take a peek at the ravishingly lit film and get swept away in the romance. We think Travis’ classic good looks are the perfect foil for Audrey’s unique beauty and feel the two are a delightfully modern pair to represent the iconic perfume.

Travis looks great – but an actor he is not. His performance is the only thing I don’t like about the ad. Watch it again and during the train scenes, think of him as a serial killer.. perhaps like Grenouille from Perfume, and you’ll see what I mean.
However, after the Luhrmann/Kidman effort, this is much more down to earth yet it doesn’t compromise on sensuality. I do like it.

As the resident gay here on models.com, Travis doesn’t really do it for me. He’s kind of comfortable bf cute, not hot hot hot cute. He’s just not that memorable, kind of a clone of so many other models.
