The Biz: Emanuelle’s Turn

Emmanuelle Alt by Tommy Ton
All is well that ends well; Vogue Paris chooses Carine’s second in command to be her successor – Emmanuelle Alt is set to take over on February 1st. Industry insiders wait with baited breathe to see what she’ll bring to the magazine and of course everyone has an opinion.
“Her style is her big shoulders, long legs, tight jeans, sleeves up to the elbow, one hip out,” the designer said. “I personally like her. She’s a handsome French woman. She has a style, but is it enough to make a whole magazine?”
Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin
“She has an innate sense of chic and has a very clear vision of who the Paris Vogue woman is. The shoots we have done with Emmanuelle are always just like her: superfun, supercool and superfashion,” van Lamsweerde and Matadin said in an e-mail.
Mario Sorrenti
“Emmanuelle is one of the most talented editors. I love working with her,”
Giambattista Valli
“It’s a very logical continuation for French Vogue. She’s really somebody who’s going to make it. She has a point of view, a lot of vision. I remember when she was editor in chief of Mixte she did some amazing stories. She worked a lot with Corinne Day at the time. She’s French, but she’s extremely international as well.” | WWD

SHE HAS A VERY GREEAT STYLE! I WAS HOPING FOR A MORE DRASTIC CHANGE IN EDITOR, ONE WHO PROMOTES TRUE BEAUTY, AND THE END OF USING FUR AS CLOTHES!!!! CARINE WAS VERY AMAZING AND ITS SAD TO LOOSE A RISKTAKER LIKE HER! I HOPE ALT WILL PROMOTE FASHION WITH A TWIST OF HUMANITARIAN!!!!

This makes me happy. She had her moment through the Michael Jackson revival, and I think she is going to bring even more to the fashion plate.
So very happy.

I like some of her work but it can be quite monotonous. I hope she doesn’t suck all of the fun and sexy out of the mag like her recent eds have. One can only see Daria Werbowy dressed like her on the street in Paris so many times…. I hope she makes me eat my words come April/May.
