Vintage Appeal
January 5th, 2011 Janelle comments (45)Vogue Italia kicks 2011 off right with a beautiful vintage inspired cover and corresponding editorial. Steven Meisel and Karl Templer, look back to the days when fashion shows were intimate affairs; just a small room with models carrying cards bearing the number of each look. The focus was entirely on the fashion, not the celebrities in the front row or any other distractions. This story is a treat for anyone who loves clothes – looks by Lanvin, Chanel and Vuitton come to life in Meisel’s photos. As always the model selection is top notch, with VI first timers Anais Mali, Fei Fei Sun, Arizona Muse and Herieth Paul, joining regulars Kinga Rajzak and Freja Beha Erichsen.

poor kinga has been given some awful looks to work. arizona looks like karlie in the first shot of her and fabulous on the cover, love her body language – but fei fei looks the best here. great diversity in this spread

I love the cover, and have to admit that Arizona is growing on me quickly! Love her look!

The clothes are portrayed really well here. Mission accomplished. Arizona takes the cake on this one, and Fei Fei is close behind. Kinga is making an awesome comeback.

Herieth, Anais, and Fei Fei are such a pleasant surprise for this kind of editorial, especially being newcomers. Arizona Muse’s is kind of obvious, not that she doesn’t look amazing as well.

I want to buy this issue! It really LOOKS retro, I thought it was Pat Cleveland in one of the photos, or Chris Royer… So cool… I love the way they are holding the numbers. I love the whole stylized runway thing. I met a model from the sixties and she showed me how they used to walk and pose, it was SO cool, very very stylized, like a dance.
