Peter Lindbergh brings his film inspired aesthetic back to the pages of Vogue with beautiful editorial that looks fit for the screen. Daria Werbowy and actor David Strathairn team up, playing a photographer and a reporter turned muse in Lindbergh’s story and Grace Coddington provides the elegant styling. Every element from the picturesque desert scenery, to the colorful outfits from Versace and Prada, works beautifully.

This reminds me of an extensive spread featuring Daria in Vogue for March 2006.

She was an “Argentine woman” or something of that nature. Truly beautiful. One of my favorite editorials to date.

This is by far one of the best spreads I’ve seen of Daria by far. She looks absolutely beautiful especially with the darker locks? And this is more than just sitting and posing for photos. Its telling a very beautiful story…almost like I’m actually watching a movie. I will definitely be buying this issue.

Anyone else notice how the Raymond Meir accessories story, which is normally at the back, was moved up to second in this issue? Good for Joan. And a David Sims Tonne Raquel one is at the end, when it is usually second.

Probably a color thing (the neon lime green Christopher Kane looks v good coming after mostly earthy colors in Lindberg), but interesting nevertheless.

  25. Gav says:

Shocked; an editorial in US vogue that’s actually interesting.

  26. nuffnuff says:

Daria is, I think, the best model to come along since the late nineties. She’s one of only a few girls in the 00’s (also Natalia Vodianova, Natasha Poly, Mariacarla Boscono, Gemma Ward, Edita Vilkeviciute, Jessica Stam, Adriana Lima, Gisele Bundchen, Freja Beha Erichsen, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Anja Rubik, Lily Donaldson, Lara Stone and Carmen Kass) Who can actually claim to be a supermodel at present. Calling girls like Miranda Kerr, Karlie Kloss and Izabel Goulart ‘Supermodels’ simply indignifies the term.

  27. Sundal says:

This doesn’t work. I don’t see her ‘falling’ for her subject at all.

  28. Amby says:

Lindbergh always good in editorial that have a story in it, just like a movie! Love this one!! And Daria.. she never fails me 😉

Daria =) Sometimes I think she’s a little underrated, she really is one of the best models ever but I don’t see people talking about her like they talk about Lara, Doutzen, Freja, et al. I don’t think her accountant or agent think she’s underrated lol but she deserves far more recognition than she’s getting right now.. She is superb, just like Gisele was from the beginning, should be much more famous.

And new photographers really should look at Mr. Lindbergh’s work.

  30. Yasmin says:

    This is great!!!
Daria reminds me of Romy Schneider!

  31. PeterModelObsessed says:

Carola…. i think you gave too much credit to Doutzen, I’m sorry but she’s not in the league of Daria, Gisele, Lara, Natalia and Kate

  32. PeterModelObsessed says:

By today’s standards, Izabel Goulart and Mira Kerr are first rate Supermodels. They might not have the look that you like, but they’re very good models, and big money earners. Iza always works and she’s Super gorgeous. Mira is a household name.

I don’t know what you are talking about….

  33. bryan says:

izabel goulart or miranda kerr is not the first rate supermodels. dont give supermodel a bad name. vs gives them the celebrity status but that doesnt’ mean they are supermodels.

@carola: daria will never be recognized by the general public bc she will never try to be a celebrity. she just want to be a model so she can have a her life. she turned down vs otherwise she would be huge by now, in term of public recognition wise.
