Maybe I am just being crazy. But she does not look very plus sized in this. Is it just me? I just always worry that pressure from the industry will change her. But hopefully I am just overreacting.
All that aside, she looks stunning. That girl has the most beautiful face. I love it.

Funny that those plus size models always said they are happy and pround with their size and curves but then they still want to loss weight to become skinny. I don’t get it……

I don’t know what to think about Crystal’s new size. I’ve always looked up to her for being plus size…the fact that she’s lost so much weight worries me. I hope she’s losing weight in a healthy way.

I don’t really get it. For someone who preaches about acceptance of all sizes etc, it’s confusing as to why she has slimmed down so much. I’m sure it was done in a healthy way, but why fix it if it ain’t broke?

I think she is still plus-size (hopefully! she is so gorgeous in her body and does NOT need to change) but they either photoshopped her big-time and/or she posed in ways and they took the pictures in ways that would make the body look slimmer. that aside… this is amazing (: she is so beautiful

to borrow from a friend’s comment, of course she ballooned after starving herself for so long. she’s only recently started exercising again, so maybe now she’s finally at a healthy equilibrium ?

I don’t know about this either. I just don’t know what to think. I mean, Crystal is photographs fantastically, and I really enjoy seeing her in editorials, but I kind of thought of her as being this proud plus-sized model, trying to change the industry’s perception of beauty. Perhaps it was just in my head. People tend to create assumptions like this. The point is that this editorial just seems to emphasize how slim and fit she looks, and is kind of confusing me. I mean, I expect girls to have a certain consistency about their image.
I really hope that I don’t get misinterpreted here. I don’t really think fashion models should be one thing or another. I think it’s up to the designer’s perspective to use paper thin models, plus sized ones, average and healthy looking girls or wire hangers being railed over the runway. People have to be responsible for the role they let this images play in their lives.
I like diversity, and I think Crystal looks fantastic now as she looked fantastic when she walked for JP Gaultier and started her boom. Having said that, the change is still confusing, and I don’t exactly know what is it that they were trying to say with this.
Fashion is always looking for this novelty that kind of just pops out with the right timing, and that’s the only thing I’m certain about. It has proven to be a very unpredictable realm. What casting directors see, and that thing that makes a girl stand out among hundreds of others just like her, is a mystery. Crystal had the chance to stand out, and I’m really happy for her. I believe she’s gonna work weather she’s looking curvy or rather gaunt, I just hope she does something that’s good for her, and she sticks to that.

She looks thinner than normal, but still looks great.
However, that 2nd pic is do disproportionately off. Reminds me of Alice in Wonderland with the too big head for the extra small body.

I’m all for women slimming down, getting fit, etc. but I think she looked better, and healthier, when she had a bit more weight. Her face is so gaunt now. Not every woman is meant to be “skinny” – i.e. every body type has a different ideal weight – and maybe this model is healthier when she’s a bit bigger.

I just think it’s stupid she lost the weight. She said in all her interviews the pressure was so high and that she was finally happy about herself!
And now she looks like the other models again (Stunning though). Why can she be skinny now and was it impossible when she was younger? Just.. Weird.
Whatever. Hope she is happy! That’s all that matters..

I agree with kl55. I don’t think she’s losing weight on purpose but due to the fact that she’s really been having a very successful year. Either way, she looks great. To be honest, she can probably keep fluctuating if she wants and will still get booked either way. If she changes, the industry will work alongside with whatever she looks like.

She does look thinner than before, BUT, she doesn’t look sick to me. So what if she lost some weight? I just hope, for her sake, she lost it the healthy way, because she’s been through that before and you know how badly those things can end up.
It doesn’t look like Photoshop.
And the thing is, she doesn’t have to remain plus-size her whole life so that she can be some kind of role model to plus-sized girls around the world. Everyone knows clothes look better on a thin frame (and I’m using the word “thin”, not anorexic, I mean thin but healthy), a beautiful face look even more beautiful when it’s less round, so why wouldn’t she wanna look better??
Crystal is stunning no matter what size she is, and she doesn’t have to be thin or plus to please people, in the end they’ll criticize her anyway.

Carola, clothing looked just FINE on Crystal Renn when she was a size 14. In fact, it looked better. Now, she’s generic and bland. She gave up being a role-model in order to be like everybody else. That is the sad lesson of this story.
Plus, I am going to take you to task for saying “everybody” thinks clothing looks better on thin people with “less round” faces. That is blatantly false propaganda that has been fed to us by the fashion industry for years now. Plus-size models have been blowing that myth out of the water, thank goodness. Crystal can take credit for that, at least. But now she can fill her token role as a “real” woman among the angular and ugly models that dominate the runways these days.

Crystal Renn looks so good. It is a known fact that she’s a plus size model, but she doesn’t even look CLOSE to being plus sized. She might be 30% fatter than the average model, but its still a very slim difference. I see it as she only has a little more definition to her calves.

I mean she looks great, but who really cares! she writes a book saying all these things about have a eating disorder and being happy as plus size now! but obviously not! it takes a lot of work and wanting change to loose the amount of weight she did! dieting, exercising, focus!!! you all know how it is! i just don’t understand this model! its so disappointing! this is just proving the she is just another disturbing part of the industry! I think everyone needs to take a step back, and really look at this model, the tv stations her book was on, her booking that followers her around, her being plus size and career taking off and now???? its weird and i guess the way things are still! she should stay plus, because she is a sick girl she even wrote a book about it, and now she is like every model, she will never last! cause its just wrong!
