A Leg Up!

The feminine 50s trend strikes again, this time in the pages of Vogue Nippon with a cheeky editorial by Sølve Sundsbø. In the story Ana Beatriz Barros and Alessandra Ambrosio fall head over heels for luxurious ensembles by Vuitton and Cacherel, all chosen by superstylist Katie Grand. While Ale and Ana look fit for an episode of Mad Men, Solve adds in a touch of whimsy by shooting the girls upside down and lounging like true retro pinups – the look is sexy, coy and just a little demure.

  1. This a bit too much like the Louis Vuitton ad a few seasons back for me. (The one with all the supermodels on the car). They still look great. though.

  2. I always see Alessandra as being a bit too posed for my taste. She’s gorgeous, but slightly stiff for me.

  3. I was about to say the same thing, Josh. It’s very much like Vuitton Spring ’08. It’s beautiful nonetheless. I especially love Ana Beatriz – she looks stellar.

  4. It’s all about Ana Beatriz!!! All of this should translate into a beauty contract for her, I mean wow..

  5. The first and last pics are my fave, maybe cos they’re not looking at the camera. I don’t think Ale’s legs are the best choice for this ed.

  6. It resembles the 08′ Louis Vuitton campaign because much of what they are wearing… and holding, is Louis Vuitton. Classic editorial.

  7. I think brands like Covergirl need to reinstate models in their campaigns and have girls like Ana BB fronting them. She is so amazing. Unfortunately, she is always a bridesmaid never a bride. Somebody give this girl a longterm contract!!!

  8. MDC I’m glad you already ranked Alessandra, now you’re only missing Ana Beatriz. Please don’t make us wait longer and please rank her as she deserves! <3

  9. re: Sam. I hope the classic look comes back again. There will always be a place for elegant, groomed knockouts.
