Mae Day

July 15th, 2010 Posted by Janelle comments (10)

Laetitia Casta takes on the role of Mae West for Harper’s Bazaar in a special editorial by Jean Paul Goude; the tongue in cheek tale follows Laetitia as she reenacts many of Mae’s classic moments. Known for her bawdy humor and come-hither attire, West was the perfect muse for the sexy story which features a slew of over the top couture pieces. It doesn’t get more lavish than Laetitia acting as tiger trainer in head to toe Dior.

Once again, a model who should bump one of the newer faces out of the icons list.

@ Lily- I think they should create a top 50 icons list instead of top 25.

I didn’t have to read the intro to know this was from Harpers Bazaar. They are always very costumey with their editorials. I like it, but I’ve seen it 100 times.

Damn, I sure am chatty this weekend but I have to get back to the icons issue once more. From the newer models I think only Natalia qualifies for the icon status. Natalia’s story is just legendary, from a bloody fish market of Nizhny Novgorod to America to marry a millionaire and to become the favourite face of Calvin Klein for several years. That happens once in a century.
But Malgosia or Isabeli, sure they are beautiful and all, and they have worked a lot, but they’ve only worked half of the time of Trish, Tasha, Milla or Laetitia have. Ok, Trish & Tasha have kept a very low profile over the years, but Milla & Laetitia have incredible stories to tell of their modeling career, and the story goes on as none of them have never really stopped working.

TL;DR In my opinion, only 15 years plus qualifies for an icon status, unless You have done something really extraordinary.
