Survival of the Fittest

DSquared2’s S/S 09 show was a veritable supermodel revival but Dean & Dan have taken things to the next level for the campaign. The inimitable duo of Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista, captured by Steven Meisel, duke it out in a battle for dominance. Captivating, controversial and instantly iconic the ad proves that when it’s Naomi vs. Linda we’re all winners.

Naomi really grabs the attention in this picture. Though I think its rather typical that she’s the one really slamming down Linda.. It would of been refreshing to see reverse roles..

Oh my heavens. GOD is goood! Such a unique shot amidst the direction of the season. Very dynamic. I can’t wait to see the rest..Naomi and Linda togther again, alone, like the golden days. Statues the world over, eat your hearts out, this is perfection.

they should do a campaign featuring Stephanie and Cindy… (all the supermodels are back, but haven’ really seen Cindy anywhere? Do the fashion powers that be not like her?)

DSquared2’s ad reminds me of Sony’s PSP ad from a few years ago, featuring a black and a white model fighting, and the controversy it generated.

You know why this ad works? It’s because high fashion ads are selling things that are ridiculously unattainable for most people in today’s economy. These ads make it all fun and accessible.

THEY SHOULD GIVE NAOMI A PHONE, THEN IT’LL MAKE SO MUCH SENSE LOL
