The Amanda Show

August 27th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

Nothing like an old school glamour girl to set hearts racing and get photographers inspired. At the moment the exquisite Amanda Wellsh is exactly that girl and her steady stream of only girl editorials in top tier publications shows exactly why she’s so in demand. Whether she’s channelling Béatrice Dalle in Vogue Paris, or taking it back to the swinging sixties for Vogue Australia, Amanda is always the right choice. No wonder photographers like Glen Luchford (Art Partner), Benny Horne, Sebastian Kim (Management + Artists) and Ezra Petronio can’t get enough.

New Liu

August 26th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

No one looks better on a cover than Liu Wen and for Numero China’s September issue the versatile beauty takes on a mod persona in Txema Yeste’s arresting black and white portrait. Sporting larger than life lashes and a tranquil stare, Liu radiates glamour. Yeste’s dramatic photography style never fails to push his subjects into exciting new territory, so this high contrast story is certain to be an intriguing departure from the ultra-elegant manner in which we’re used to seeing Liu. Shot on the streets of New York and featuring textured looks from MarniProenza SchoulerAzzedine Alaia and Balenciaga selected by stylist Tim Lim -

Details, Details

August 26th, 2014 |Posted by jonathanshia

If September is indeed, as they say, the January of fashion, then the new issue of Details Magazine might very well be one of the unofficial almanacs for the new year. The September edition of the menswear bible (with all model casting by Edward Kim) offers a polished look ahead at the new season, starting off with a brooding Idris Elba on the cover. The iconic RJ Rogenski shows off a plush selection of cold-weather options, while newcomers Jeremy Matos and Richard Detwiler take on the latest patterned suits on a big scale. Robbie Fimmano captures a range of faces old and new in the season’s most desirable Eighties-inspired pieces, and a gorgeous, artistic collaboration between the photographer Lacey and the painter Alexa Meade showcases a clutch of swirling prints in an editorial that harkens back to everyone from Van Gogh to Banksy. Happy New Year!

LV Overload!

August 26th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

If there is one collection that is getting editorial love this September it is Nicolas Ghesquière’s debut for Louis Vuitton. While LVMH is generally no slouch in the editorial department, Ghesquire’s work has gone that extra mile – appearing on the cover of or within the pages of almost every single September issue thus far. For fans of the designer’s work the constant sight of logo printed belts and playful dresses has been an appealing constant thread amidst the past few months of editorials and covers, but how much is too much? Take a look at the line’s recent front page appearances and decide. Stylists show no signs of slowing down with their Vuitton obsession so you can expect to see the iconic luxury label rack up even more covers as the month winds down.

Pop Couture

August 25th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

Numéro finds itself in a mod-mood for September with 5 graphic covers shot by Karl Lagerfeld. Utilizing a black and white patterned backdrop and a series of swingy looks from the latest collections, Lagerfeld creates a sixties mood on modern girls Sasha Luss,Lexi Boling and Maartje Verhoef. The streamlined pieces from Jean Paul Gaultier, Dior, Armani Prive, Valentino and of course Chanel showcase a youthful and carefree side of couture – still elegant but completely in line with the way modern women dress.

Sheer Force

August 25th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

When it comes to elegant, icy blondes Anja Rubik and Daria Strokous have the market cornered, so it’s wonderful to see them together in the pages of W Magazine‘s September issue looking pristine. Roe Ethridge shoots and Giovanna Battaglia styles this sumptuous tribute to sheer separates. With plenty of skin on display and Battaglia providing her signature eclectic glamour, the story has a lot going for it fashion wise. Etheridge’s saturated colors give each image a vibrancy that brings out tiniest of details – be they a bejeweled butterfly brooch on Anja, or Viki Rutsch (Exposure NY)’s vintage-chic set design. For their part Anja and Daria provide the edit with a vampy intensity that makes the lingerie inspired looks seem powerful rather than dainty.
