Stella Unzipped

The dream team of Kate Moss and Stella McCartney go together like pb & j – the duo are close friends, Moss is frequently seen wearing McCartney’s sleek earth-friendly wares on her off time and they’re close friends to boot. Moss has been the face of McCartney’s seasonal campaigns six times before so it’s unsurprising to see her in the new fall ads, but the Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott (Art Partner) images keep things interesting by juxtaposing Moss in the fall collection with shots of glaciers and zippers to create an appealing collage effect.

Nouveau Riche

The exploits of the idle rich have long been a fashion obsession, but Venetia Scott offers a unique take on the subject. Sinking into 70s style imagery filled with feathered hair and bright colors Scott creates a sumptuous world of luxuriant excess. By serving as both photographer and stylist, Scott is able to fully realize her vision and every element of the story merges together so well that the shots could be actual stills from a late 70s film. Sporting a firecracker red wig and looking a bit like Karen Elson’s wicked twin, Malgosia Bela serves up style as the heroine of the tale. Malgosia’s chic presence elevates every shot, making this an especially entertaining tale.

The Valentino Vibe

Master photographer David Bailey (Visual Artist UK ) has created some of the most iconic fashion imagery of all time and as lensman for the newest Valentino campaign Bailey brings an appealing simplicity to the black and white portraits of elegant fresh faces. Models Harleth KuusikMaartje VerhoefIne Neefs and Josephine Van Delden look regal in Bailey’s stately portraits, showing off the pop-art influenced collection by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli. The end result is a campaign that eschews trendiness in favor of elegance and the kind of graceful imagery that will look just as fresh decades from now.

LOVE’s 12th

Love Magazine and editor-in-chief Katie Grand  like to keep readers on their toes so issue 12 is filled with the unexpected. Adriana Lima brings a sultry energy to her Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin cover portrait, its flamenco feel providing a welcome playfulness to the month’s newsstand. The shoot marks the very first time Inez & Vinoodh create a cover for LOVE and the image doesn’t disappoint. The David Sims preview of Kendall Jenner whet our appetites for an all-American girl editorial and the final cover is an equally appealing shot of the beauty sporting an oversized fur hat. Last but certainly not least, multiple-Oscar nominee and new face of Max Mara, Amy Adams sheds her sweet image for a raw portrait by Juergen Teller.

Lanvin’s Family Reunion

Edie Campbell is no stranger to high fashion campaigns, but Lanvin takes things one step further with their fall ads enlisting not just Edie, but her entire family! Tim Walker shoots the Campbell family in all their glory and his portraits prove that the group is every bit as eclectic and unique as one would expect. Given that the idea of family is a core part of Lanvin’s heritage (their famous logo is a drawing of Jeanne Lanvin embracing her daughter after all) the campaign is the perfect series of visuals for the label’s 125th anniversary.

Dior’s Darlings

Willy Vanderperre (Art Partner) and Raf Simons join forces once again for Dior‘s fall campaign creating an atmosphere of simple pleasures and girlish delights. Led by Julia Nobis and Fei Fei Sun the ads focus on a group of glamorous femmes in a classic Parisian flat, enjoying conversation, a glass of wine and of course designs from Simons’ ladylike collection. Helena Severin and Kasia Jujeczka join the fun sporting bar bags and the ubiquitous lace-up pieces that made the show so memorable. In the accompanying film the ads come to life, a techno beat pumping as the girls laugh, pose and move around the stylishly appointed apartment.

Banal Plus

The normcore trend has been the subject of much debate – is it chic, is it lazy, is it even a legitimate trend at all? Craig McDean and Edward Enninful take on the look in the pages of W Magazine with an editorial that mixes the best in designer gear with everyday staples like Adidas tube socks and white clogs – the kind of items you’re more likely to find in the closets of athletes than amongst the accessories utilized in a fashion story.
