Sports Rave

June 30th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

The season’s vibrant pieces come to life in Victor Demarchelier (Management + Artists)’s sporty Vogue Japan story filled with fresh faces. Riley Montana, Larissa Hofmann and Emma Waldo pose in colorful looks from Proenza Schouler, Moschino and Acne Studios chosen by stylist Aurora Sansone. The unique combinations take the familiar runway pieces and imbue them with a sporty girlishness that makes them feel new – even the oft used Dior lace-up dress gets a new lease on life when paired with a puffy Eugenia Kim hat.

La Reina

June 27th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

With the triple campaign whammy of Balenciaga, Isabel Marant and Emilio Pucci Gisele Bundchen proves herself high fashion’s MVP. Given that she’s already the current face of H&M and has taken over Stuart Weitzman from none other than Kate Moss, it can feel as though we’re seeing Gisele everywhere and that’s a good thing. Bundchen has always been a compelling presence in front of the camera and her jam-packed campaign slate gives her ample opportunity to display her versatility. In Steven Klein‘s (Art Partner) punk ads for Balenciaga she’s a buzz-cut sporting rebel, while Mario Sorrenti‘s(Art Partner) sleek ads for Pucci give her a chance to amp up the sex appeal in Peter Dundas‘ elegantly embellished party pieces. Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin offer yet another interpretation with Bundchen playing Marant’s well-dressed everywoman in Marant’s signature relaxed knits and layers.

Jason Wu’s Four Seasons

June 26th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

jasonwuadrianalima

Over the last few years Jason Wu has made a habit of taking supermodels to the world’s finest eateries – Karen Elson at Indochine, Stephanie Seymour at La Grenouille, Christy Turlington at Mr. Chows, an impressive lineup and a concept that has provided Wu’s ads with an appealing visual signature. For fall Wu and Adriana Lima head over to fabled Manhattan restaurant, The Four Seasons. Considering that The Four Seasons is the birthplace of the “powerlunch” it seems like an ideal spot to showcase the sophisticated and expertly tailored F/W collection. Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin shoot Lima against the restaurant’s impressive Mies van der Rohe designed interiors and Adriana looks right at home perched in a corner of the pool room.

Mod Squad

June 26th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

The resurgence of mod was one of fall’s most impactful runway trends and American Vogue captures the look with a playful Mario Testino (Art Partner) editorial starring Cara Delevingne. London girl Cara is the perfect person to pull off this quintessentially British look and she’s joined by lead singer of The Heartbreaks Matthew Whitehouse and Josh Nickerson (Anti-Agency), both of whom look authentically retro. Grace Coddington handles styling and as always provides an eye-catching mix of designer wares. Pieces from Tom Ford, Burberry and Saint Laurent Paris are put to good use and Didier Malige (Art Partner) and Linda Cantello‘s hair & makeup provide the final touch of swinging sixties beauty.

Vuitton’s New Groove

June 25th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

As one of the ultimate luxury brands Louis Vuitton has to take things just one step further than the rest. Case in point Nicolas Ghesquière‘s first campaign for LV, which boasts three of photography’s biggest names – Juergen Teller, Bruce Weber and Annie Leibovitz. Each superstar was given free reign to interpret Ghesquière’s fall collection and photograph some of his many muses. Naturally Liya Kebede, Freja Beha Erichsen and Charlotte Gainsbourg make appearances and newcomers Jean Campbell and Kirstin Liljegren star alongside the three Ghesquière vets. The striking Series 1 ads are a completely new direction for LV and serve to usher in the brands thrilling new chapter under Ghesquière.

Easy Breezy

June 25th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

WSJ continues its traditional of excellence in editorial with a refreshing story by Daniel Riera (Jed Root). Shot along the shores of Jones Beach and featuring layered pre-fall looks styled by Vanessa Traina (Management + Artists) the editorial is a crisp and cool take on dressing for the days in-between seasons. Stephanie Joy Field is gamine in lightweight sweaters and minimalist separates accented by flat loafers and understated jewelry. When paired with the backdrop of wood shingle beach houses and clear blue water the effortlessness of these pared down looks shines through; this is simplicity at its best and Riera’s images capture this mood in chic style.

June 24th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

When it comes to bringing the sexy it’s hard to compete with Emily Ratajkowski on the cover of this month’s GQ Magazine. Sporting little more than a floral lei and a come-hither look, Emily sizzles and showcases one of the best bodies in the business. The images by Michael Thompson (New York: Jed Root, New York: Jed Root) are sure to entice GQ’s target demographic so it’s no surprise that the magazine has dubbed her the official bombshell of summer. With her modeling career hitting new highs and a role in one of the moments biggest films it’s safe to say that we’ll be seeing plenty more of Emily this summer.

A New View

June 24th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

Few photographers have as instantly recognizable a style as Miles Aldridge (D + V Management ). Aldridge’s work is known for it’s bright colors, glamorous socialites and tongue in cheek humor, but it is always fun to see a talented image maker mix it up. In Numéro Aldridge looks to pop artist Sylvie Fleury for inspiration and creates one of his most evocative editorials to date. Auguste Abeliunaite sports cascading feathers and a wardrobe of white columns and capes chosen by Samuel Francois. The cave backdrop creates a striking contrast allowing the elegance of Francois’ fashion selection and Auguste’s natural beauty.
