First Look: Self Service+Gisele

September 27th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

The legendary Ms. Bundchen looks better than ever on the cover of the new Self Service Roe Ethridge‘s elegant, stripped down shots capture Gisele’s natural beauty, freckles and all. The barely there makeup by Aaron de Mey and hair by Recine help, but the allure is pure Bundchen! Dressed in sleek seasonal styles by Balenciaga, Céline and Kenzo, selected by none other than Marie Chaix, Gisele looks every inch the supermodel.

i-D Magazine never fails to delight with its edgy mix of fashion and culture. For fall the magazine looks to the enduring value of creative collaboration, with a wide variety of partnerships explored inside and today’s top models paired up with photography’s coolest names. All the covers are intriguing in their own way, but the old school shot of Kate Moss by Craig McDean provides a welcome bit of fashion nostalgia.

First Look: Hercules ❤ New York

September 26th, 2013 |Posted by jonathanshia

The heavyweight Spanish menswear magazine Hercules Universal is no stranger to the long-distance haul, having devoted previous issues to far-flung locales like China and South Africa. The Fall 2013 issue finds itself a bit closer to home, focusing on the vibrant energy of the world’s capital, New York City. Several of the most talented photographers and stylists working today join forces in the eclectic stories, which showcase the beautiful Fall collections against the backdrop of the ever-changing city. Polish photographer Maciek Kobielski‘s stark black-and-white cover story features the Dane Mathias Lauridsen styled by Swede Zara Zachrisson and Darcy Backlar (Paris: Management + Artists, New York: Management + Artists), all of whom, like many in these pages—and countless immigrants before them— now call New York home. David Agbodji takes a star turn with an uptown elegance in Bruno Staub (De Facto)’s gorgeous feature styled by Miguel Arnau. Sean O’Pry brings his timeless cool to the city streets in Txema Yeste‘s contemplative story with styling by Francesco Sourigues.

The rest of the roster is equally strong, with newer faces like Dominik Bauer, Tidiou M’Baye, O’Shea Robertson and Louis Steyaert taking their places alongside seasoned pros like Clement Chabernaud, Marcel Castenmiller, Miles McMillan—and a few veterans like RJ Rogenski and Aiden Shaw—in features lensed by Giampaolo Sgura, Carlotta Manaigo, Ben Weller, Axel Lindahl, and Zachary Hadley. The rich stories offer small peeks into the city’s bustling diversity, proof that even a lifelong New Yorker can always find something new and exciting just around the corner.

Few models inspire the kind of adoration that Mariacarla Boscono garners. Ask photographers, stylists, designers and even other models who their favorite working model is and you’ll often hear Mariacarla’s name in the mix. Mariacarla’s iconic status is celebrated on the latest covers of Vogue Turkey, shot by Cuneyt Akeroglu. From the soulful black and white nude, to an elegant shot of Mariacarla in couture, Akeroglu’s imagery captures the versatility and beauty of a true fashion favorite.
