Murphy’s Law

July 31st, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

Chic Chicagoan Amanda Murphy is quietly becoming the go to girl for top tier photographers in search of a little All-American charm. With her classic features and soulful brown eyes, Amanda harks back to an earlier period in modeling. It’s easy to imagine off-kilter beauty fitting right in during the late 90s / early 00s, back when all models were expected to have a mix of edge and elegance. It’s that combination that makes Amanda such an in demand commodity, this month alone you’ll find her face in the pages of American Vogue, Vogue Paris and on her 2nd Vogue Italia cover in a row.

Candice Swanepoel is showing off her signature sex appeal in her latest shoot—and we’re not talking a Victoria’s Secret ad. In an editorial by David Mushegain for Vogue Russia, the South African beauty trades in her angel wings for an edgier look, posing alongside graffiti covered walls and even rocking a nose ring. Styled by Gillian Wilkins, Swanepoel wears colorful prints, paired with lace, leather, and spikes, all which go hand in hand with her bold surroundings. Have a look at the stunning photographs of Swanepoel below, where she proves herself to be a chameleon shoot after shoot…

Tattoo You

Daria Strokous.
Vogue Japan

Fashion’s current queen of austerity is transformed into a tattooed femme fatale by the talented Shay Ashual and Lisa Butler. The film noir styling by George Cortina, coupled with a wild array of body art creates a unique new look for Ms. Strokous, while Sundsbø’s dramatic photography style provides a showcase for her posing talents. The stylized shoot offers a welcome change of pace from the usual vintage inspired edit, all while adding a hard edge to one of fashion’s most delicate beauties.

Back In Black

July 26th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

She’s baaaaaaaaaack, the unstoppable Australian returns with a vengeance, snapping up one of the season’s best campaigns and showing off newly dyed chocolate locks. Abbey Lee Kershaw shows off those chiseled cheekbones alongside Adrien Sahores in the latest ads for Gucci. Styled by Edward Enninful and shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott the fall  Gucci campaign sizzles and offers up a sleek alternative to the line’s more ethereal imagery. There is no Flora fantasy to be found here, just hard lines, glossy leather and enough sex appeal to satisfy even the most insatiable fashion fanatic.

Ervell’s Field of Dreams

July 25th, 2013 |Posted by jonathanshia

The young New York designer Patrik Ervell has always gone his own way. There was the runway composed of salmon-tinted stacks of Financial Times, the jackets made of crinkly gold emergency blankets, the progressive e-commerce site featuring animated models, all of it perfectly in-line with his sharp, modernist aesthetic vision. So it’s no surprise that his first fully-fledged ad campaign would be no different. Shot by Luke Gilford in Santa Cruz, the rich black-and-white spread features Max Von Isser in a soft, windblown field, the perfect backdrop for Ervell’s brilliant woodsy Fall 2013 collection. Take an exclusive first look at the campaign below, before it makes its début in the Fall issues come September.

The Miu Miu Age

July 25th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

In 1993 the Miu Miu line launched as an offshoot of Miuccia Prada‘s creative empire. With an ultra-feminine point of a view and a youthful, eclectic design sensibility the label quickly came into its own. Rising from a secondary project into a full-fledged powerhouse of its own, Miu Miu has grown exponentially, becoming a favorite label of insiders and celebrities alike. Over the years there have countless memorable moments of Miu and in their latest issue Dazed & Confused travels back through the archives with an atmospheric edit by Ben Toms. With a series of quintessential brand faces lounging around in key looks from seasons past, Toms and Robbie Spencer capture the essence of what makes the brand special – that intrinsic feeling of youthful whimsy and insouciance, infused in each outfit and brought to life here in chic style.

Bright Like A Diamond

July 24th, 2013 |Posted by models.com

French beauty Marie Piovesan graces the pages of Vogue Russia in a sophisticated editorial shot by Catherine Servel. In “Green Dragon Order” the model is dressed in an array of diamonds with a perfect pop of emerald color. Stylist Svetlana Tanakina keeps it simple yet luxurious in barely-there clothing, and the classic beauty of Piovesan is captured, looking effortlessly elegant as always. We’re so captivated by this shoot that we’re not sure what shines more in these photos- the diamonds or Piovesan herself?
