April 12th, 2013 |Posted by models.com

Take a glimpse of the newest issue of The Greatest Magazine with minimalistic spreads of the season’s most coveted looks. The Italian magazine’s third issue, focusing on the theme of “Water”; features Paolo Zerbini shooting Tomek Szczukiecki for the cover (who’s shorn of his signature long locks). Some of the best new faces of the season are featured in staple pieces from the latest Spring Summer collections of Maison Martin Margiela, Jil Sander, Kenzo and more. Interviews with designers Andrea Incontri and Alessandro Sartori (the art director of Berluti) and an evocative fashion film (below, directed by Francesco Brigida) round out an issue overflowing with fresh and modern images, proving that minimal sometimes has a maximal effect. Class Acts

April 10th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

When in doubt, go for elegance. The latest ad campaigns eschew gimmicks and rely instead on the kind of classic polish that never goes out of style. Bastion of uptown chic Tiffany & Co. enlists the new generation of top models in a stylish campaign by Michael Thompson that puts those fabulous jewels on superstars Liya Kebede,Liu Wen, Arizona Muse, Karen Elson and Doutzen Kroes. The stunning cast adds a touch of freshness to one of luxury’s oldest names, while Thompson’s graceful shots show the timeless appeal of gemstones.

Prada’s pre-fall shots are every bit as beautiful, but there is a hint of edge in Steven Meisel‘s minimal studio shots. Irene HiemstraAmanda Murphy and Vanessa Axente look pristine in Meisel’s imagery and the pared down collection provides a down to earth, yet wholeheartedly Miuccia take on seasonal dressing. What could be more classic than a whole lot of gingham and a good ol’ fashioned statement bag?

Friends & Associates

April 9th, 2013 |Posted by models.com

With more and more designers blurring the lines of gender specific fashion; Matthew Edelstein‘s Spring/Summer 2013 collection for Friends & Associates, as seen in the latest issue of Visual Tales Magazine, is definitely timely. Matthew, a longtime stylist and creative director for the year old brand, studied fashion design first so the move to start the women’s wear line was a homecoming of sorts. The new collection as shot by the renowned Arthur Elgort and styled by David Vandewal puts a twist on all this; women’s clothes based on men’s iconic uniforms, worn on some of the season’s freshest male faces. We asked Matthew and David for their takes on the collection and shoot

Matthew: The Friends & Associates Resort and S/S 2013 collections are inspired by iconic uniforms of all kinds; we combine details from military and sport in strong color and updated proportions. These boys look so fresh we call them ‘Candy Land Cadets’.

David: We created with Arthur Elgort a sort of cinematic men’s fashion story around one of my favorite movie The Last Detail by director Hal Ashby in ’73 starring a young, naughty bad-ass Jack Nicholson. Navy sailors are ordered to bring a young offender to prison but decide to show him a last good time along the way. It’s a tough drama, but they become in a complicated way, buddies for life.

See the brightly colored Resort and Spring 2013 collections, available now, on Friends & Associates.

Ediemania

April 8th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

Is there a more buzzed about girl on the block than Edie Campbell? Fresh off the heels of a very mod-British Vogue cover by David Sims, the Penelope Tree-esque beauty is front and center on Vogue Italia in a dramatic Steven Meisel shot that takes her into edgy territory. April belongs to the versatile Ms. Campbell, but which side of the Brit beauty do you prefer – punk or pretty?
