Jason Wu with his Runway to Green design on Olesya Senchenko (Next)
Earth day may be over but there is still time to make your life greener. Small steps like using less energy, devoting time to the right charities and of course making socially conscious purchases. Here are a few fashionable little purchases that are either organic, natural and/or providing money to some of the world’s top environmental organizations.

Net-A-Porter is among the leading online fashion destinations and their Runway to Green project combines the best of designer fashion with a unique charity initiative. Designers from Marc Jacobs, to Stella McCartney and Oscar De La Renta, each designed one exclusive piece for the line with proceeds going to charities like Alliance for Climate Protection, the Natural Resources Defense Council and the United Nations Environment Programme’s Billion Tree Campaign. We’re in love with Prada’s smart red coat and Jason Wu’s glamorous chiffon blouse.
Finding good skincare is a difficult process, especially when searching for something that is free of chemicals and toxins. Absolis’ line is certified by Ecocert and features a full line of products for every skin type. Their beautifully packaged (each box is made of recycled paper and opens up like a piece of origami) products are luxurious and chic, not to mention hardworking. The Spearmint Foaming cleanser and Tea Trea Oil moisturizer left our skin glowing.
We’re big fans of Josie Maran (check out our interview with the beauty entrepreneur here) and her line of organic cosmetics is wonderful. With innovative products, like a foundation that adjusts to your skintone and her beloved soothing Argan oils, the line is a great choice for anyone looking for a naturally lovely look. Try out the magic marker lip and cheek stain for a fresh Spring look.
Aveda has always been a company that creates responsible products and support’s great causes, the brand’s Walk for Water raises awareness about clean water organizations, while their Appointments for the Earth allows you to get a haircut, while contributing to non-profits in your area. Check out Aveda’s Earth Month website for even more info about how the brand is connecting consumers and professionals to raise awareness about clean water protection.
The Light the Way candles take the brand’s philosophy one step further. Aveda donates 100% of the profits from each candle to Global Greengrants to fund water projects like “training 3,5000 people in organic agriculture methods; helping 20 communities implement local water resource management plans; enabling 100 communities to take action against toxic industrial pollution.” Added bonus, each candle has a soothing lavender and sage fragrance that relaxes and calms.
LUSH Charity Pot & Knot Wrap Scarves
We love LUSH’s fresh organic bath and body products in general, but their Charity Pot lotion is one of our favorites. With every penny going to local grassroots charities like WaterCan and Fresh Start foundation, the wonderfully scented lotion is one small way you can contribute to something positive. The brand’s knot wrap scarves are another innovative way to go green; made out of recycled plastic bottles, they can be worn as an accessory and used as reusable wrapping paper.
