Samuel Francois brings his stylish touch to the pages of Numero with a moody story by Yelena Yemchuk. Using the frilly, floral and feminine pieces that dominated fall’s runways to expert effect, Francois creates a dreamy look that is perfectly attuned to the melancholy mood of Yemchuk’s pictures. Anna de Rijk‘s youthful yet mysterious persona only serves to add to the unusual feel of the images; Anna looks beautiful, but bored by her surroundings and with all the finery that surrounds her one can’t help but wonder why.

If you love the work of David Sims, then you’re going to love August’s Vogue Paris; Sims’ sleek style gets 65 pages worth of editorial space within the issue. Carine Roitfeld styles the massive portfolio of fall looks from labels like Stella McCartney, Louis Vuitton and Alexander McQueen and the pictures don’t miss a beat. Sims mixes studio shots, location shots, color and black and white for an editorial that covers a great deal of designer territory; each brand gets an image that is uniquely theirs and each girl looks gorgeous in her pictures.

Craig McDean taps into the energy and vitality of 60s youth culture with a retro inspired editorial in Interview. The moody story tells the tale of a star crossed couple and in it Karl Templer creates looks that blend mod and glam rock together, using the finest pieces from Miu Miu, Balenciaga and Calvin Klein. Freja Beha Erichsen and newcomerDan Kling have just the right energy to pull off the rock n’roll feel of the clothes and fit the dramatic mood of McDean’s pictures – they make quite the pair!

KT Auleta takes Ann and Kirby Kenny, in a luxe 70s direction for Vogue Russia. Both Ann and Kirby look perfect in the soft, beige and taupe ensembles chosen by Brian Molloy. The ubercool twins have done editorials together before (check out their great The Shining inspired edit in Interview) but this story nails the feminine style of designers like Hannah MacGibbon and Pheobe Philo – this shoot almost looks like it could be a Chloe campaign!
