Redefining Sexy

May 12th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

Miranda Kerr is on a roll. The VS beauty is redefining herself as an editorial queen and her striking cover for i-D raises the bar for any and all sexy models looking to jump onto the high fashion bandwagon. Bleached eyebrows, an eye-catching pose and the presence to back it all up; the cover, shot by Willy Vanderperre, is classic i-D and marks another major coup for Miranda, who has in recent months created a firestorm with bookings for Balenciaga and Prada. The era of Kerr is upon us! Do you love the new editorial Miranda?

Preview of Hannah Holman by Norbert Schoerner for 10 Summer Issue 2010.

10’s always been our go to magazine for inventively beautiful imagery combined with a slightly madcap sense of humor that’s refreshing in a industry that so often takes itself way too seriously. We always look forward to their monthly Ten Heads feature but for their summer issue, celebrating their 10 year anniversary, they’ve outdone themselves with, what else, but 10 covers of their favorite Fashion Gods: Alber Elbaz, Azzedine Alaia, Donatella Versace, Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana, Helmut Lang, John Galliano, Karl Lagerfeld, Ralph Lauren, Tom Ford and Vivienne Westwood. Who’s your favorite of these 10 men and women with their larger than life personas? Check out the previews at 10 Women and 10 Men.

The Other Side

May 11th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

Oh Sigrid…

Every editorial girl has her “sexy” story; the pictures that take her into that unexplored realm of seductiveness, miles away from the typically staid world of the catwalk. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. The girl who looks great in a Jil Sander suit, isn’t always the girl who looks great vamping it up. With her latest story in Numero, Sigrid proves she can handle both sides of the biz; a little swimwear, a pair of metallic boots and a lot of hairspray, the classic beauty transforms into a femme fatale. Miguel Reveriego shoots the sizzling story in black and white, highlighting Sigrid’s presence and phenomenal poses.

Expect the unexpected, V Magazine gives us Jamie Bochert as we’ve never seen her before. Looking bronzed and buff, Jamie poses (and dances) alongside James Applewhite, a dancer from the American Ballet Theatre, in Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin‘s vibrant editorial. Styled by Joe McKenna and featuring some of the seasons most extreme pieces, the story crackles with energy and life.

Steven Meisel creates classic iconography with his latest shoot for Vogue Italia; dreamy black and whites, retro swimwear chosen by Karl Templer and the most beautiful newcomers. Kirsi Pyrhonen, Hind Sahli, Ylonka Verheul, Daria Strokous, Julia Nobis, and Caroline Brasch Nielsen star in a spectacular story that is reminiscent of vintage images from 60s editions of Vogue.

Mixed Media

Glen Luchford pushes into fresh territory for V65. Working with artists, The Boys Collective, Luchford creates new portraits of Tao Okamoto, Daisy Lowe and V A Model winner Lea Groesland, using a combination of archival images, illustration and paper cut outs. The mixture makes for an unusual editorial, but we’ve come to expect originality from Luchford and V.
