The Body

May 28th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

Like Lara Stone and Laetitia Casta before her, Ashley Smith is in the possession of the kind of body that just won’t quit. Her enviable curves have made her the most buzzed about girl of the moment and the Texan beauty shows them off in the latest i-D, with a revealing editorial by Will Davidson. Even in a plaid shirt and menswear style briefs, Ashley radiates the kind of sensuality that you just can’t teach.

New Semester

May 28th, 2010 |Posted by Betty

Looking at new faces is like taking a snapshot of that first day of school. Most of the time there’s a guilelessness captured in the eyes that will never be seen again. There’s no “I dialed this in” look or “I’m doing it for the money only” expression. That could also be why most of the supers stay super, they love what they do and become that fresh face again every time they step in front of the camera. As we approach the summer months where many faces come in, we’ve chosen a few images and faces that we think have that innocence and appeal.

The very strong Haodi as seen on YVY

Jules Hamilton with ADAM, by Ken Pao (as soon on VGL)

We’ve met Ford Models‘s Emily Senko before and we have to say, she has a phenomenal personality. Check out her new pols.

Ariel, the first Maori model (that we know of)! With Elite New York.

The unique Luiz Paulo by Didio is with L’Equipe Agence.

Beautiful Rael Costa is with Ford Models Brasil and Ford Models NY.

Cementing her status as one of the most striking faces working today, Jac Jagaciak debuts on a stunning Numero cover by Solve Sundsbo. The breathtaking image speaks for itself, but the caption ‘sensation’ sums things up aptly.

World Cup

What could be more exciting than many of the world’s top male models posing for VMan? It just may be all of them getting together getting for tomorrow’s Male Model World Cup sponsored by the mag. Some top faces scheduled to kick off the event: Mathias Lauridsen, Simon Nessman, Danny Schwarz, Oraine Barrett and many more (see full list below). We chatted with VMan editor Jacob Brown and found out the inspiration.

“I came up with this idea actually at Mathias Lauridsen’s birthday dinner. He was telling me about the league soccer he plays, and how so many of the guys are also very serious soccer players—a lot of them are from Europe and have played all their lives. One of us made a joke like, “Oh wouldn’t it be funny if there was a big tournament where all the models competed.” And then I realized that it would actually be a perfect event for VMAN to host. So Mathias and I started putting it together. He’s sort of the chairman of the tournament and has helped get the players together with the agencies. And Hummel, which is an athletic gear company from his home country of Denmark, hooked us up with uniforms and everything. We are shooting the tournament tomorrow of course, and we will be running photos of the winning team in the next VMAN. Stephen Gan and I are really excited about this tournament and plan on making the Male Model World Cup a yearly event!

Gorgeous, athletic and sweaty men… Doesn’t get better than that.

A Dolls House

May 27th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

Solve Sundsbo‘s transforms Alessandra Ambrosio into a living doll for the debut issue of Industrie. In the Japanese cartoon doll inspired story, styled by Katie Grand, Alessandra is nearly unrecognizable beneath layers of white makeup and a platinum wig, the drastic change allows Ale, to take on a whole new character. In addition to Ale, the highly stylized story, also serves as a retrospective of Giles Deacon’s most striking pieces!

Cowgirl Blues

Liya Kebede brings her dynamic presence to the pages of i-D, with an edgy editorial by Amy Troost. Dressed in an eclectic mix of cowgirl, scuba and sporty styles chosen by Alastair McKimm, Liya looks tough and in control, further proof that she can pull off even the most unusual looks – who else could make a leather cowboy hat and mesh top combination look completely natural.

The unique styling by Grace Koo, showcases Ms. Jablonski’s assets, but the clothes are taken to the next level by Constance’s expressive poses.

True Colors

May 25th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

Russh never fails to deliver an inspiring cover concept and this month’s issue, featuring the lovely Ieva Laguna and the iconic Tony Ward, is a sight to behold. The sexy shots by Will Davidson are colorful, kinetic and filled with incredible styling by Stevie Dance. The energy that the entire team brings to the story can be felt in each picture; Christian McCulloch‘s vivid makeup highlights Ieva’s pristine look and Leonardo Manetti‘s hair creations seem just right, even as the models are being doused with paint.
