Sigrid Agren and Patricia van der Vliet join forces for Glen Luchford in Vogue Nippon. While the blonde duo almost look like twins in Luchford’s playful editorial, each girl brings something unique to the table; Sigrid’s doe-eyed grace is impressive as always and Patricia’s poses never fail to impress. As always Anastasia Barbieri‘s styling manages to steal the show, the coordinating looks on both girls are to die for.

Iron Man

April 23rd, 2010 |Posted by Betty

Though everyone may be focused on the prevalence of “boobs” in fashion, we’re noticing that the strong and sexy man is getting their moment back in the spotlight. V Man‘s new story with Axel Brorson perfectly epitomizes the male form at its most athletic and sleek.

In this exclusive quote for V Man from Italo Zuccheli (the Men’s Creative Director of Calvin Klein); he announces that “Axel has a powerful, Scandinavian magnetism. He is like a young Dolph Lundgren. He perfectly fits the spirit of my fall collection, which is about masculinity and toughness to the extreme.” Calvin Klein is of course the brand with David Agbodji lending his flawless figure to the campaign this season.

Adding to the visual heat is Andres Velencoso Segura, who recently appeared on the new Vanity Fair Spain cover baring almost all. This, coupled with his new underwear campaign for Ermenegeldo Zegna shows that Mr. Segura can hang with the best of the new sexy, male models.

The Passion of Maria

April 22nd, 2010 |Posted by Betty

In celebration of Earth Day today April 22, we have a special interview with top 80’s model Maria Snyder and her upcoming project. (picture courtesy of Maria Snyder)

American model Maria Snyder made her mark in the 80’s as one of Yves Saint Laurent’s favorite faces. Her exotic yet elegant look led to work with legendary designers, notably Karl Lagerfeld, Gianni Versace and Valentino and with top photographers Helmut Newton, Steven Meisel and David LaChapelle. Following up her prestigious modeling career, Maria became a designer, artist, jewelry designer and one of fashion’s first eco pioneers. This Saturday, in celebration of Earth Week, she is launching her new project, Maria Snyder’s Eco Boys & Girls; 5 characters created by Maria that will premiere in a short film. Pictured in the invite, Ernie Earth and Lulu Love are 2 of the lovable characters in the film designed to empower our young ones about taking ownership of the planet. Joining Maria is Kelly Killoren Bensimon, Gabby Karan (Donna’s daughter), and supermodels Frederique Van der Wahl and Alek Wek. (Taking place at the wonderful Liberty Science Center, there will be private ferries leaving Manhattan for the location, for more info, click here.) What is Earth Week for those who don’t know what it is?
Maria Snyder: Earth Week is a celebration of Planet Earth. A time to rejoice, reflect and celebrate how to better enjoy and improve life on Planet Earth for all.

mdc: Why do you think it’s important for people in the fashion industry to be involved in taking care of our earth?
MS: We as an industry can, collectively, make a difference. By joining forces and becoming conscious of our choices, we can make changes that can contribute to the health of the planet.

mdc: Many of the models are teenagers. What are some ways that they can start now to become members of society that contribute to the health of our earth?
MS: Simple things in everyday life. Reduce waste of all kinds. Shut off lights when not using. Use less water when running those utilities. Recycle plastic bottles, aluminum cans and newspapers. Be more conscious in your everyday choices.

mdc: Who are some of your fellow fashion people that you respect in terms of them making positive contributions to our earth/environment?
MS: Kenneth Cole, Rogan Gregory and Scott Hahn for Loomstate, Ali Hewson and Bono for Edun

The Sun God

April 22nd, 2010 |Posted by contributor

The sun is back and it’s that time of the year when our favorite magazines are pushing eyewear. These accessories are as essential as the clothes themselves with more and more campaigns dedicated especially to them. Here’s a peek at Nimue Smit for Giorgio Armani, Constance Jablonski for cK Calvin Klein, Freja Beha Erichsen for Chanel, Anna Jagodzinska for David Yurman, and of course Madonna in her eyewear capsule collection for D&G. My personal favorite for S/S10? The Tom Ford Nikita in tortoise shell shown on Jacquelyn Jablonski, by William Selden for Another Magazine S/S10. What’s your must have eyewear accessory of the season? (Story by Kristen Bolt)
