The Look of Day 3

February 15th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

The days go by faster and faster but there is always time to look back at our favorite moments. Right now were loving the beautiful smoky eyes from Lacoste: what better way to offset the bright, sporty clothes than with shades of black and grey on the eyes. Not to mention the fact that It looked lovely on the girls, Kristina K and Julija Step were gorgeous.

Another day, another dress to discuss – Peter Som’s collection was filled to the brim with color and pattern and the black silk dress on Emma Pei, exemplifies the artistic and madcap spirit of the entire collection.

Alexander Wang always has choice accessories (you can’t even open up a magazine nowadays without seeing the ubiquitous ‘Coco’ bag) this season it was all about the booties. It is amazing how practical these manage to look – who says you can’t have style and substance all at once.

River Viiperi. Calvin Klein Men’s Collection F/W 10

For model watchers in the know, River Viiperi’s opening slot at the Calvin Klein Men’s Collection F/W 10 may come as no surprise since this young Spanish star’s been steadily rising over the past season. That being said, look 1 at Calvin is still one of the most coveted slots around and bodes very well for this exciting new face.  The show, which was streamed live for the first time ever on its website and Facebook  page, featured over a dozen exclusive models besides River. Tim R/VNY, Eric  W/Ford, Axel/Scoop, Armand/Success,  Phillipp Schmidt (Mega and DNA), Florian Bourdilla, Kadeem with Request, Eric Sage (Nous and Major), former MOTW Carlos Sander. Other new faces were Amaury with Success, Mitch with DNA, and Thomas with Click. David Agbodji, who opened and closed last season, and is currently featured in the men’s Spring 2010 Calvin Klein Collection advertising campaign was of course there to round out the strong and sexy collection by brand designer Italo Zucchelli. Present front row were Calvin fans like Ryan Philippe, Chace Crawford, Jared Leto and Kellan Lutz. Even with that VIP power wattage, River and company shown brightly and were the perfect faces for the iconic Calvin brand.

The Look of Day 2

February 13th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

The shows are going by at a lightening fast pace, but each day there is something special to catch our eyes or make us smile. In our second installment of daily looks, we take a peak at our favorites from day two.

Alla at Jason Wu

All eyes were on Jason Wu this season and the designer didn’t disappoint, his collection was a buoyant mix of electric colors and rich textures. There was a wide range to choose from: everything from ultra feminine cocktail dresses, to sporty borrowed from the boys separates – but our favorite was the ultra-girly number on Lindsey Wixson. With its frills, fringe and bubblegum pink shade, it was like a delicious bit of runway candy and we can tell from Lindsay’s expression that she loved it too.

A little glitter never hurt anyone: the lips at Doo.Ri were covered in icy an metallic shade that looked great on the runway and worked perfectly with the cool toned clothes, Naty Chabanenko, pulled it off especially well.

How She Moves

Models are often praised for their graceful movements but every so often a girl comes along, who outdoes them all: take a look at Ranya Mordanova, in Nick Knight‘s film for Hexa by Kuho’s collection. Ranya shakes, shimmies, glides and jumps, using her whole body to display Kuho Jung’s complex designs, as well as the shows theme of transformation.

The Look of Day 1

February 12th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

New York fashion week has just kicked off but already there have been some truly imaginative things sent down the runways. We’ve been keeping track of our favorites from day one and here are a few little things that stood out to us.

USA-FASHION/

Vena Cava
never fails to deliver a strong collection, this season their 70s inspired look had a laid back yet luxe feel just felt right. The grey leather jacket on Flo Gennaro, looks like a must have – especially when paired with a LBD and fishnets, something about the way Flo carried off this simple combination makes it all look effortless. Those quirky little sunglasses don’t hurt either.

On the beauty side we couldn’t help but be impressed by the spiked nails at Cushnie et Ochs: we thought we had seen it all when it comes to nail adornment but these took things to the next level. Even If barbed nails aren’t your thing, the soft makeup on all the girls, especially the lovely Anya Kazakova. Check out the subtle smoky purple – love it.
