The fact that Calvin Klein is a star making brand is legendary. Witness last fall’s POS campaign with a certain Jersey girl with the initials JJ who is surging towards stardom. This season, Emily DiDonato (first seen on Feed in 2008 as a fresh faced newcomer) does the honors for CK Jeans, photographed by Sebastian Kim. Adding to her already covetable Maybelline contract, Emily shows that she indeed, can do it all.

Snake Handler

January 25th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

Knoepfel & Indlekofer, get dark and deadly for the latest Vogue Paris, shooting Anja Rubik clad in brilliant gems and giant snakes for the Bijoux feature. Veronique Didry‘s styling makes it hard to tell where the clothes end and the snakes begin, but that only serves to make the images even more intriguing. Given that this is the second snake-centric story in under a week, could we be seeing the beginnings of a trend?

Variety Show

January 22nd, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

Sometimes inspired casting can make a story, case in point Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadins latest editorial in Vogue Paris. The mammoth story is half studio shoot / half travelogue and features a host of talented models; the Morocco shots are all about Freja, Lara & Dree, but the indoor photos have Vogue Paris familiars Isabeli Fontana, Raquel Zimmermann and Naomi Campbell working those dynamic poses. Newcomers Anna de Rijk and Martin Cohn also make strong showings within the story and there is even a special appearance by comeback kids Talisa Soto and Tanga Moreau.

Raw Edge

January 22nd, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

Ranya Mordanova makes her way to the pages of Dazed & Confused, with an editorial that showcases Spring’s edgy side. Shot by Ben Toms and styled by Katie Shillingford, the story presents fashionable looks from Gaultier, Margiela and Gareth Pugh, in a manner that is atypical; the unconventional designs manage to look ethereal and different from how they were presented on the runway. Shillingford’s excellent styling is a big of what makes this story, but Ranya’s ability to add idiosyncrasy to every picture, adds to the enjoyment.

Milan ends and Paris begins with barely a second in between. Louis Vuitton‘s impeccable casting today blended male icon Gabriel Aubry with some of the industry’s hottest new faces  (Jacob Coupe, Ryan Koning) along with several of the runways’ top go to men (Nicolas Bemberg, Armando Cabral). The closer? Grayson Gettys, who with his unshaven look, 90’s supermodel beauty and intensity perfectly epitomizes the brand’s sophistication and wearability this season.
