The Ultimate

December 18th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Vogue Russia kicks 2010 off the right way, with a singularly stunning shot of Natasha Poly. The image of Natasha looking blonder, bolder and more even glamourous than we’ve seen her, strikes just the right note and the caption “Beauty Above All” is the perfect motto for the new year.

Wilderness Retreat

Who is more at home in an outdoor editorial than Daria Werbowy? The Canadian beauty seems completely at ease in Patrick Demarchelier‘s vivid images of Lake Powell, Utah for American Vogue. Whether she is rock climbing or practicing yoga, Daria manages to make it look easy. The striking scenery paired with Daria’s athleticism and grace, makes for an incredible fashion story.

Musically Inclined

December 16th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Ever wonder what was on Steven Meisel‘s iPod? The latest issue of Vogue gives us a little hint, its ‘Already Famous’ editorial features a lineup fit for Coachella posing alongside supermodel, Sasha Pivovarova. Musicians Mika, Beirut, Vampire Weekend, The Horrors, Chester French and MGMT, join Sasha for a little fashionable fun in this lighthearted story. While we can’t exactly imagine Anna Wintour jamming to ‘Electric Feel’ it is still cool to see a few rock stars shaking up a studio edit.

Kate Moss by Corinne Day. 1990.

This just arrived in our inbox from London from the incredible people banding together to help Corinne Day as she fights her illness. The one with Kate in the headdress is one of my favorite images ever taken of Miss Moss and became the cover of The Face magazine in July 1990.

“We are so happy to present the final prints available for the Save the Day campaign. As this is the last set to be released we are presenting 2 prints for purchase. There will be a limited edition of 300 of each print and as before they are on a first come first served basis. They are numbered and authenticated and as before they are £100 each. Should you wish to continue buying Corinne prints after this sale please contact Jackie at Gimpel Fils on +44 (0)20 7493 2488.

Corinne and Mark would like to pass on their sincerest thanks to everyone for supporting them through this difficult time, for your kind thoughts and for you generous donations. They are currently based in Buckinghamshire and Corinne, after undergoing DMSO IPT-LD treatment in Arizona is currently undergoing specialist treatment in London. She is awaiting test results on this treatment to check the efficiency of it and to further develop her treatment plan. It will continue to be an ongoing battle and we will continue to update you.

A donation will be made to the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust who has become the largest dedicated brain tumour charity in the UK and the most significant funder of laboratory based brain tumour research in the country. They fund high quality research and support patients and their carers. They continue to help find a cure for this devastating disease.

Naked Isabeli Fontana? You heard right. Made in Brazil has some beautiful pics.

We always knew Helmut Lang was visionary but this Time Magazine article reminds us why. See why the fashion shows as we may know it may soon be gone.

Brazilian boys line up for the shows, check. And if you haven’t voted yet for your hottest Brazilian boy, click here to vote.

Roxanne Lowit: 30 years in fashion, 1 million pictures later.. her backstage book at Dior looks like another must buy for us this holiday season. Read the Times interview with her about Tom Ford spraying Kate Moss backstage.

New, sort of, agency in Chicago.. Jane Stewart who headed Elite for 28 years opens Factor Women.

Nick Knight may just be the hardest working man in fashion right now. He shot 25 people in a row ! Speaking of Nick, he’s at Selfridges today signing copies of his amazing book.. get down there now!

The lovely young American model, R’el Dade interviewed by Ponyryder. Find out where she got her name (hint: think Disney).

Purple Reign

December 15th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

For the past few seasons Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott have been creating decadent fantasies in Valentino’s ad campaigns, for S/S 10 the duo takes Dree Hemingway into the stratosphere in a sleek image in the classic Mert & Marcus style.  With her pastel hair and graceful pose Dree makes for a vision of futursitic elegance and the campaign itself is pure luxury.

Even on crutches, Chad White supports the cause. (All photos/ story by Gary Mazrek for MDC)

The Model Home Project teamed up with Toys for Tots and Songs for Soldiers to put together a wonderful event last week.  Many faces from Major Model Management‘s men’s division showed up in support of fellow model Jon Passavant, who is the co-founder of Model Home Project.  The fundraiser was headlined by football star Terrell Owens and Zach Roerig from the hit series “The Vampire Diaries“.  Congratulations to everyone involved for putting together another successful and meaningful event!  (For more on Model Home Project see our video interview with Jon Passavant and check out their website).

Jump Start!

December 14th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Nothing livens up a studio shoot like a touch of inspired casting : Kasia Struss makes her American Vogue debut in a story by David Sims and the results are exceptional. We get the traditional high-flying, jumping escapades of Vogue’s studio shoots, but we are also given Tonne Goodman‘s expert styling in shades of beige and khaki, Guido Palau‘s hairstyling (very similar to his work at the Alexander Wang show) and Kasia looking incredible.
