Such Great Heights

August 26th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Sasha Pivovarova & Freja Beha Erichsen have the keys to the city in the new V. The stunning duo travel through Manhattan’s Times Square as Mario Sorrenti shoots the beauties from below. The change in perspective gives the editorial a unique feel  and makes Sasha and Freja imposing and powerful as the skyline itself.

Funky Divas

August 25th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

i-D always nails it with their covers and the September issue is just as good as you’d expect. Chanel Iman, Sessilee Lopez, Jourdan Dunn and Arlenis Sosa join forces for a dynamic cover that calls to mind the great girl groups of days gone by while remaining as cool and modern as can be. The quartet gives their best winks to Emma Summerton who shoots them in front of a colorfully graffiti backdrop – can’t wait to see the corresponding editorial!

Tina by Tao

Among the standouts of Vogue Paris‘ September issue are Tao Okamoto‘s stunning turn as late fashion icon Tina Chow. With her flame red lips and intense presence, Tao channels Tina’s signature look but brings her own charm to Paola Kudacki‘s elegant jewelry themed story styled by Melanie Huynh. With each passing story Tao shows just why she’s becoming one of the most in demand faces around.

Alla Rising

August 24th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Alla Kostromichova is fast becoming a force to be reckoned with. The leggy Ukrainian beauty is making the rounds of September’s big issues with a slot on the cover of 10 and a sultry editorial by Craig McDean in the latest Interview.  While the ‘return of the sexy model’ might sound like lip service, the continued popularity of slinky stunners like Alla gives us hope, nothing like a powerful woman to make everyone sit up and pay attention.

Love, American Style

August 24th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

The latest edition of Love is all about youth culture – from unknown teens on the cover to Disney tweens inside, the issue focuses on the power and impact that youth culture. Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott pay tribute to all things youthful with a special editorial featuring modeling’s most engaging presences. Naturally Dree Hemingway makes an appearance looking like a cool skateboarder but that’s only a taste of what this issue has to offer.

High Praise

August 21st, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

As a model you know you’re on the right path when the greats like Steven Meisel and Arthur Elgort are singing your praises. With her remarkable poise, tireless work ethic and sparkling personality Karlie Kloss has garnered some very big fans in high places. In the September issue of Vogue, Karlie is shot by Annie Leibovitz and we get a chance to find out just why she’s such a photographer favorite. Hear what some of fashion’s finest have to say about Ms. Kloss.

“She’s disciplined and has danceability, repetition and gorgeous legs. And she’s happy to hang up her clothes after each picture. She was first a Teen Vogue girl and I was so delighted to shoot with her – light on her feet, happy to work, like a young Christy Turlington.”
Arthur Elgort

“She’s an amazing model. She knows clothes. She has tons of energy. She will add things to the shoot that I would never have thought of. She thinks from the point of view of an editor and photographer, not just that of a model. When she’s allowed to be free, to be creative she’s at her best. She likes extreme things. She likes to go all the way.” – Steven Meisel
